Makyura the Destructor
During the turn this card is sent to the Graveyard, the owner of this card can activate Trap Card(s) from his/her hand.

Anybody have a good explanation for why this card is on the Ban List? It's a good card, no doubt, but I must be missing something. Is there a combo I haven't thought up or heard of? Usually cards make the Ban because there is some incredible advantage that can be gained, but I'm just not getting it.

First off, that was the wrong forum to post to. No harm no foul.

Second it's banned because there are a fair number of OTK combos that can be executed with him.

OK, yea, I get that. Still, you need to clear the field for damage from Chick the Yellow, clear any defensive Traps your opponent has, have a Call of the Haunted on the field, and send Makyura to the Graveyard, all in the same turn. Not exactly an easy trick to pull off.

Seriously, if the ability to slap your opponent hard in one turn is all it takes to make the Ban List, Konami is going to be banning a lot of cards.

It's not merely that. Remember, there are cards out in Japan that aren't out here that can also lead to FTK with Makyura ("Reversal of Worlds" if I'm not mistaken). So you have to the global aspect into consideration as well.

Rifling through you entire deck with Jar of Greed (3), Skeleton of Yata-Garasu(6), Reckless Greed(7), and Good Goblin House Keeping(9) (In addition to Pot of Greed (10) Graceful (11 and Upstart Goblin(13).

13 cards which draw a total of 19-22 cards. (an extra 3 in combo with Emergency provision)

You throw in a set of Thunder Dragons, and Toon Index to thin your deck, and some cards to help you get makyura into the graveyard faster.. and voila instant win.

I've heard that mentioned a few times, but I don't know what it is.
Just what is Reversal of Worlds anyway (, and Sixth sense too...)?

Reversal of Worlds, can only be activate when the controller has 15 or more cards in his graveyard, the graveyard and deck of each player are switched.

Sixth sense, at a successful roll of the dice would allow the controller to draw 5 or 6 cards.

Ishizu uses it in Battle City.

Are we ever going to get it here??

"Exchange of the spirits" as they called it on the show, wont be out for sometime.

there are alot of promos that we should get.

not to mention, i belive sixth sence got banned or something did.

either way, the reason why makura got knocked up was becuase konami wanted to kill first turn kills.

they didnt go after Over powerfull cards during this run.

becuase if we talk about over powered then we can add the soldier, then again konami is a strong supporter of warriors so its the only reason why Makura got banned. FTK/OTK had to stop.

though i think it was D_X that told me that a combo with

Spell Economics, 1 card that tribute to do damage {Mass Driver/Cannon Soldier], Dimension Fusion, and DMOC.

4 cards, will lead to FTK/OTK. if done correctly.

I run this Deck Out Deck, and before Makyura was banned, I could mill an entire deck in one turn with the right cards

1st: Set Morphing Jar and Book of Taiyou, activate Book of Taiyou, chain with Book of Moon from my hand to the effect of Morphing Jar, draw 5 new cards, sent "Makyura the Destructor" to the graveyard.

2nd: Played "Ultimate Offering from my hand" and then activated "Desert Sunlight" switching Jar face-up on the field, chained to its effect by paying 500 LP's to summon "Tsukuyomi" from hand, targeting Morphing Jar. New Hand

3rd: Activated Face-down "Book of Taiyou" switching Jar face-up again, chaining again with Book of Moon from my hand to its effect.

4th: Drew 3rd Book of Taiyou and set it face down. Activated from my hand "Acid Trap Hole" Destroys face-down Morphing Jar and activates its effect. I send Night Assailant in that turn and got Morphing Jar back.

5th: Payed 500 Lps to set Morphing Jar and then activate "Book of Taiyou". Chaining to Morphing Jar's effect by paying 500 Lps and Summoning 2nd "Tsukuyomi".

6th: Played 2nd "Desert Sunlight" from my hand. Chained to Morphing Jar's effect by paying 1000 lifepoints to set Magician of Faith and summon Tsukyomi.

Then I played Card Destruction and chained to it with Serial Spell, forcing my opponent to draw the last 5 cards of his deck and deck out 1st turn.

yeah, I did go kinda fast, so I left some of the key words like "chained to" out of the text... sorry bout that.

That's what I like about Makyura though. A chance to change the rules in your favor.

One time Makyura really saved my bacon.

It had been a long duel, I just finished getting rid of a BLS that had been bugging me for about 4 turns, finally using bottomless traphole after he had resummoned it for the 2nd time due to Compulsory Evacuation Device.

My life was at a Meager 1100, while I hadn't managed to do a thing to my opponent.

I activated Premature Burial to get my DMOC from the grave, getting Card Destruction out and activating it, the both of us discarding 3 cards to get my opponent a little further down in cards. I miscounted his deck and he had one final card in his deck after drawing from Card Destruction.

My three cards were: Ring of Destruction, Magic Cylinder, and Pot of Greed.

Unfortunately, I had 1 card in my deck as well, which sucked (I abused Graceful Charity a wee too many times). I was confident however that I could handle whatever he threw at me, considering I had 3 face-down monsters and Dark Magician of Chaos on the field, so I attacked his defense Mof and he returned Nobleman of X-out to his hand.

My opponent drew his final card and then returned Sinister Serpent to his hand. The first injustice came when he Snatch Stealed my DMOC and sacked it for Great Maju Garzett (5600), and then equipped it with a Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce.

The second injustice came when he nobleman of x-out and chained Serial Spell, emptying his hand and selecting 2 of my 3 face-down monsters (1 Makyura, 1 Cyber Jar), and then he attacked with Great Maju Garzett against my lone monster. I had one face-down card (Pikeru's Circle of Enchantment), so I activated it, which befuddled my opponent for a moment, but none-the-less he attacked and destroyed my second Makyura the Destructor. I had nothing left to defend me as he called for the final attack.

I cracked a silly grin (or that's what the judge said) and litterally shouted, "SURPRISE! Happy Birthday! I activate Ring of Destruction, but I'll chain to it with Magic Cylinder." Eat 5100 and then Take 5100 more.

"You lose as well"

"My Pikeru's Circle protects me from RoD's Damage"

...You should have heard him cursing as he picked his cards up and walked off.

Now that I reflect on this, I really despise the people that created this second banlist. Makyura just didn't have enough time to shine.

It was banned almost as soon as it came out so it didn't even get the chance to ruin the game with any OTK combos and of course I was lucky enough to pull one in my box and never have gotten to use it. I was just disappointed that UDE and Konami both know what is available in Japan when the English cards come out so why would they release a card that would be banned almost automatically?
