My Body as a Shield Qusetions....

Guys, need some help here, I have nooo clue how these would play out:

1) Royal Oppression is face-up. It's effect is activated by Player B to negate Player A's Marauding Captain effect. Can Player A chain My Body As A Shield?
If not, can he chain it at the flipping of RO?

2) Thousand-Eyes Restrict is face-up, with a monster attached, on Player A's side of the field. Player B tributes for Mobius the Frost Monarch. Can Player A activate My Body As A Shield to negate Mobius' effect and destroy him? I think not on this one, but I wanna be sure.

Thanks in advance,

1. Yes, I can't see why not. It involves negateing the effect and "destroying the card" that Special Summons the monster.

2. It is an equip Spell card at that time. My Body as a Shield cannot prevent this. This is because My Body as Shield states "monsters" not "monster cards".

For the first one I believe it is only when Royal Oppression is flipped. For the second question you cannot do this as it designates them as Equip Spell Cards not Monster cards. As they no longer are considered monsters this would be illegal.

You could still chain to it with Royal Oppression, it doesn't need to be face-up already by the time Marauding Captain's effect activates.

Yes you are correct. Just fun, if My Body as a Shield said, "Monster cards" instead of just, "Monsters", then yes it could be done. :D But thisn't the case since it says only, "Monster"

1)Royal Oppresion negates the summon, therfore the monster never quite reached the field, and so My Body as a Shield doesn't work.
And no it can't chain to the flipping of RO because it RO doesn't target 1 (or more) monster for destruction then.

Ruling #2 on RO - RO destroys MC. So, actually, yes, you could use My Body as a Shield to prevent MC from being destroyed. But it wouldn't prevent the card being special summoned by MC from being destroyed, as you've indicated here.

Ahh quite right, it's not trying to negate a summon here... especially since Captain's effect only activates when Normal summoned *runs and edits post before anyone else notices*
