Mystic Tomato vs Man-Eater Bug

Hello

This is a question about what 'as a result of battle' means.

Scenario:
I have a Mystic Tomato and attack my opponent's face-down Man-Eater Bug. The bug is flipped and targets my Tomato for destruction.

Question:
Is my Tomato classed as having been destroyed 'as a result of battle' and hence can use his effect to summon a monster from the Deck? or is the flip effect of Man-Eater Bug separate from the battle?

Thanks

No your tomato dies as result of a monster effect. just becuase the man eater's effect was activated due to the battle doesn't mean your tomato dies "as result of battle" your tomato died as result of a monster effect which was activated as result of that battle.

to put it bluntly no

"Destroyed as a result of battle" means it was destroyed because of Battle Damage calculation.

"Result of Battle" Example: Berserk Gorilla attacks your Defense Position Mystic Tomato. No other modifiers are on the field. Berserk Gorilla destroys Mystic Tomato due to Tomato's DEF being less than Berserk Gorilla's ATK. You are allowed to search for a DARK Monster with 1500 ATK or lower and put it into your hand.

"Effect Destruction" Example: Mystic Tomato attacks a face-down Man-Eater Bug. Man-Eater Bug flips into face-up Defense Position. Mystic Tomato's ATK is higher than Man-Eater Bug's DEF, so Man-Eater Bug will be destroyed as a result of Battle. HOWEVER, Man-Eater Bug's Flip Effect will destroy Mystic Tomato. In this case, you will NOT search because Mystic Tomato was destroyed as a result of an Effect, NOT Battle.
