Needle Worm TP3-001

Again, another wonderful Tournament Pack Ultra Rare (now Super Rare too). Flip him and watch your opponent have to discard the top 5 cards from his deck to the graveyard. Ok, so since the IOC set came out, this could actually help the most commonly played deck. However, more times than not, this is a wonderful card with great use. While not as versitile as "Morphing Jar", "Needle Worm" is your (expensive) staple card for a deck-out deck. Combo it with "Skull Invitation" and drop 1500 damage on them as well.

All and all, in the right deck, this card is deadly. "The Shallow Grave" and "Book of Moon" also will help you recycle the effect so even if you only have one, you can most times wasted 10 of your opponents cards. 20-25% of their deck is gone right there. A really wonderful card.

8/10

absolutely devastating if used right. Stall cards and Gravekeepers's Servant (pity its not in the Gravekeeper's Family :() work absolute wonders as well. like was suggested, skull invitation just got a best friend

one of my favourite cards. I managed to buy it off some kid at a tournament for £14 !! What a sucker.

Believe it or not, if Gravekeeper's Servant were brought onto the field in the monster zone by 'Magical Hats' it WILL get the 500 atk/def bonus from Necrovalley if flipped face up. Then all you would have to do is 'ceasefire' and use Interdimenisonal Matter Transporter on it and u got a spell card that stays and with a 500 ATK/DEF.

... Yeah, I don't know where that came from either.

ANYWHO needle worm is quite a good card. Skull invitation, magical thorn, gravekeeper's servant. Discarding has gotten a new friend indeed.

This is undoubtably a brilliant card...however, there was one situation that favoured me when someone used it on me.

Player A vs Ultiheart

Player A has face down DEF NW
Ultiheart Attacks
NW activates

1st card discarded: Monster Reborn
2nd card: Jinzo
3rd card: Gemini Elf
4th card: (by this time I'm saying to myself "damn him to hell") Skill Drain
5th card: ...Penguin Knight

I'm surprised the neighbours didn't get me arrested for the noise.

Heh, the heart of the cards pulled through for you, didn't it?

That needle worm caused you to lose some pretty good cards... until it sent your Pengiun knight the graveyard.

Yeah...I seem to get a lot of luck like that.
I swear...I must be some sort of Joey/Yugi hybrid incarnate in real life form.

The heart of the cards actually works, funnily enough, even though it seems silly, but more often than not if I think that to myself (and indeed it seems to work for lots of people on this forum) I get what I need.

...I wonder what happens when both people dueling believe in the heart of the cards...

*new thread time*

Needle worm though...it's an interesting card...it has one disadvantage that I noticed. That being that if a real high powered tribute monster (e.g. BEWD) is sent to the graveyard by NW's effect, and you have monster reborn or something to that effect...you can just use it then (as I'm sure the "If it has been properly summoned" rule only counts for fusion and ritual monsters) whereas, you either need to tribute for...or later discard it as a cost (e.g. magic jammer) AND THEN monster reborn it.

Which is why its better to use it in combination with something that prevents monsters from coming back from the graveyard (i.e Necrovalley, Jowgen, End of Anubis)

Needle Worm is a very powerful card if used correctly, and at the cost they sell it at, it's worth it. But just imagine have 3 Needle Worms on the field w/ Necrovalley, Skull Invitation and Gravekeeper's Servent.

That's 18 cards lost (Attacking 3 times loses 1 card each time by Gravekeeper's Servent and Needle Worm's effect being used 3 times as well, that's 15+3)

and just about 5400 LPs lost already (by Skull Invitation)

and if you don't have Necrovalley on the field, and you have 3 Shallow Graves, use them, and let ur opponent suffer some more.

So anywho, i would give Needle Worm 9/10

I think needle worm is a very good card. I finally got my 3rd one i also use fiber jar and soul release in my deck. but one card i like alot is desert sunlight because now you can use shallow grave and get needle worm effect rightaway.

The effectiveness of Needle Worm will have to depend on how many times you can trigger the effect in the game. If you get it once, it might help the opponent, somewhat like a deck thinner. Twice is pretty decent, three should get you the win barring a fiber. The only problem with this card is that its hefty on the tight deck space. Fun card, but theres a reason why the majority of time people choose don zaloog's hand discard effect over his deck discard
