OMG, I saw Magic Ruler cards with Magic Ruler instead of Spell Ruler

One thing that always annoyed me was seeing the Magic Ruler series become Spell Ruler because the name just sounded stupid. Today though, I was in Target, and they had tons of packs with Magic Ruler on the title. I'm not sure why, they could just be left overs from when the cards just came out, but they were quite abundant along with the Legend of Blue Eyes series (sucks though since I care about IoC and DC though, which cannot be found).
 
Make sure the packs say "U.S. and Canada" on them, otherwise those are the European versions. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you, just an FYI. I don't believe they ever re-issued MRL as SRL overseas. The set is also slightly different than ours was ... for example Pot of Greed was MRL-E129 (I think).

Excell Marketing seems to have an unending Supply of ancient and/or non-US cards for sale at Target lately. It's too bad you can never find anything current there anymore. Our local Targets have been massively understocked for over a year, unless you happen to be looking for Duelist League cards packed in with PGD or AST. It's a shame that Target hasn't tossed Excell on their ear and went with a different distributor. I know a LOT of people that have been very disappointed and annoyed to have to hit up Wal-Mart (which frankly has also been lacking in a big way of late IMO)
 
Wal-Mart has Magic Ruler in blister packs in their card section. However, even though the booster pack inside clearly says Magic Ruler, the cardboard backing clearly says Spell Ruler with same background image as the booster pack.

I've seen blister packed boosters of Cybernetic evelution, but no Elemental Energy, other then one of those combination packs that every store across the US seems to have a different variation of. Yetserday in Greensboro I saw a Kay-B-Toys carrying a clear packaged Yu-Gi-Oh! combo pack with a non descipt starter deck, three random packs of older booster sets, and the pld Rule Book and Game Mat from the old starter decks. However, they had a couple of variations where in place of one booster pack were seven random cards (which ou couldn't see unless you opened it). That was one of the more bizzare variations I've seen. There are so many, and seldom are they worth the dough.
 
The Target where I live is actually pretty decent and usually "has" when Walmart "hasnt". I was able to get all the Horus LV8's I needed from Target when Walmart didnt have any at all (EEN Boxes), and it is just right across the street!

The only issue I have with Target is that they sell way too many of the older cards or package them as 2 packs with garbage Promo's like Mazera DeVille. They are pretty good at bringing back Dark Crisis though. I was able to finally pull a Shinato's Ark!!

Now, I just need to get a couple more for my Fairy Deck....

Actually, Magic Ruler wasn't released in Europe. Here it has ALWAYS been Spell Ruler.

Do you collect Fairy cards as well? I'm trying to get duplicates (some triplets) of every card so I can have a set in my collection for keeps, and a collection for my deck. I've got 3 Shinato's, one in my Fairy binder, one in my deck, and one in a hard case. However, I can't find another Guardian Angel Joan, Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands, Spirit of Purity and Light, and Archlord Zerato. :cog_cryin

At least SoI has a new Fairy card. :)

Oh, and I seem to end up with a Shinato's Ark with every other pack of DC.

djp, what is the difference between Target's Excell Marketing and boxes found on ebay or online shops? The reason I ask is because Target is the ONLY place here that sells the cards. Of course, I'm moving to Denver soon, and the nation's largest comic shop is there, so...

Dark Crisis and Invasion of Chaos both have been very unkind to me. I have at LEAST 3, maybe 4, boxes of each and I only had 1 shinato, 1 Shinato's Ark, 1 Guardian Angel Joan, and 3 Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands.

On the other hand, I did manage to pull 3 Dark Magician of Chaos from 1 Box I bought early on, so I guess I ran out of luck there, and the same happened to me with D.D. Warrior Lady. Really, without looking at my list of Dark Crisis pulls, I cant think of anything significant Holofoil wise, that I really use other than DDWL and Shinato, King of a Higher Plane (yes I have Reflect Bounder too)...
 
In australia, we got magic ruler packs by the truckload, and you only find the spell ruler packs in mast collection 1 and in some tins.

I also collect fairy and fairy related cards.....i have a tin dedicated to them (just the commons, not foils...the foils live in their own binder). the fairy collection isnt as big as the water related one, but it's close

Nah, faeries R k00l two. But I just can't ever seem to get enough of them. I've tried to build decks around Agido, and inevitably come to the conclusion the deck must be pure faeries in order for them to work. And... I don't have 18 decently strong faeries, so...

I spell it "faeries". Get used to it. :p

Hey, I also collect Archfiends, so that is close. :)

However, my binder has the 64 Fairy cards in it (sort of, since I am missing 5 cards in there (SoI's Ruin included)), with a blank page for any more Fairies that may come out, then I have a page for the monster cards that go with the Fairies (like Marie the Fallen One), then a couple pages on the Magic and Trap cards that go with them (such as Transcendent Wings, Shinato's Ark, etc), and in the back I have my Spirit cards (with a duplicate Asura Priest), which I'm missing 3 or 4 to.
