? on effect/instruction of some cards, alien skull, scape goat, stray lambs

Cards that have;

"...If you Special Summon this monster, you cannot Normal Summon or Set a monster during the same turn."

"If you activate this card, you cannot Normal Summon, Flip Summon or Special Summon during this turn."


What if you normal summon, set or flip summon or special summon something first then summon/activate these?

If it says you cannot... during this turn, then if you have already..., you cannot activate it.

Having said that, notice that on (for instance) the "Stray Lambs" card, you can set this turn. "Scapegoat", no; "Stray Lambs", yes. So read carefuly for what you can and cannot do.

Then shouldn't it have been better to have;

"You cannot activate this card and Normal Summon, Flip Summon or Special Summon during this turn."

Should've, would've, could've... :) many card texts in this game can or would have better sense if written differently, unfortunately, we just have to accept the way they are written now :)

Unless I misread the post, not setting after Scapegoat has been activated? I will have to argue that point...

If you activate this card, you cannot Normal Summon, Flip Summon or Special Summon during this turn. Special Summon 4 "Sheep Tokens" (Beast-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position to your side of the field. The "Sheep Tokens" cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon (or Set).

According to the text, you can still set a card. You just can't do anything else...

Slip of the Brain more like. I should take my own advise and re-read more carefully. I was thinking of the difference between "Scapegoat" and "Stray Lambs" and Tribute setting. My bad, sorry.
