RIP Jacob KT 2/16/06
does Heavy Storm kill itself or is it sent to the grave avter the complete resolution of the entire chain?
Upperdeck said:Since "Mystical Space Typhoon" cannot destroy itself, when you chain "Fiend's Hand Mirror" to your opponent's "Mystical Space Typhoon", you cannot re-direct the "Mystical Space Typhoon" to target itself. But you can re-direct it to target and destroy "Fiend's Hand Mirror".
daivahataka said:If it did matter though I'd say it's the card that sends it to the graveyard, like if MST destroys a card mid-chain. It's effect has already been activated and resolved though so it doesn't prevent anthing.
Heavy Storm doesn't destroy itself for the same reason Trunade doesn't send itself back to the hand. Played cards in the process of resolving don't count themselves for the deliberation of thier effect. This is why chained traps (either to Heavy Storm or Giant Trunade) don't get destroyed or return to the hand, because their in the process of resolving. Imgaine if I could chain Waboku to Giant Trunade and keep returning both of them to my hand for the rest of the game. That would just be wrong.Lustermaster said:Actually the text on Heavy Storm says that it destroys every S/T card on the field and since it is in the field I don´t see why it wouldn´t be destroyed. Since Giant Trunade is a Konami Said So ruling, it is looked in a different way.
Yeah. I know that. That was my point.jpnuar1 said:You can't return Waboku to your hand with Giant Trunade because it would resolve first, and thus be sent to the graveyard before Giant Trunade finished resolving.
No if you read the advanced FAQ it states that the actual cards themselves remain face-up on the field for the entire resolution of the chain and would all be sent together.jpnuar1 said:You can't return Waboku to your hand with Giant Trunade because it would resolve first, and thus be sent to the graveyard before Giant Trunade finished resolving.
And hence also why Giant Trunade cannot return itself.novastar said:No if you read the advanced FAQ it states that the actual cards themselves remain face-up on the field for the entire resolution of the chain and would all be sent together.
So Giant Trunade cannot return Waboku because the effect of the card as been used, so it is in a sense, a used gun.
Giant Trunade towards itself is more along the lines of what Digital Jedi suggested. A card's effect does not apply to itself during the deliberation of it's effect.daivahataka said:And hence also why Giant Trunade cannot return itself.
Do you mean chain Call of the Haunted to Heavy Storm? or activate it after Heavy Storm resolves?DuelzEntity said:For some reason it said that I was not allowed to post. Well anyway. Say my opponent has a Necrovalley on the field and decides to play Heavy Storm. Can I activate my COTH?
I didn't read jpnuar1's post closley enough. I didn't notice he said "sent to the graveyared." That's right, they stay on the field for the duration of the chain. I like the phrase "used gun." Another term I've been hearing latley that I also like is "empty shell." The concept being that, during the resolution of a chain, each card in the chain is now an empty shell (a one shot pistol), awaiting resolution on the field, but technicaly "used."novastar said:No if you read the advanced FAQ it states that the actual cards themselves remain face-up on the field for the entire resolution of the chain and would all be sent together.

Unless they're a continuous/equip or remain on the field for a few turns (e.g. SoRL).Digital Jedi said:I didn't read jpnuar1's post closley enough. I didn't notice he said "sent to the graveyared."
