for example:
player a: conducts his battle phase and selects one monster on his side of the field to attack with.

player b: doesn't have any monsters but activates physical double.

question: can player a have a replay and decide not to attack anymore to save his monster from being destroyed or his monster does get destroyed? thanks very much!!!

Yes he can. The token created by Physical Double has changed the number of monsters on the defending player's side of the field triggering a reply. Player A can choose not to attack the token and it will disappear at the end of the turn.
