[Player Management] Card Question

Card Question
from UDE's Player Management Forums

A method recently was found for "turning a super/ultra rare into asecret rare." The method involves removing the sticker of the lowerrarity card, dissolving the ink base on the Secret, and combining thetwo card remnants. Almost everyone who comments or asks about it wantsto know if they would be tournament legal, as they are UDE cards, whether or not they were the originals.

Personally,I don't see the issue. It makes people feel that their cards lookbetter, and it really isn't any different than coloring Treeborns andHydrogeddons. It does not in any way alter the identity of the card, when done correctly, and is really pretty cool. I'll never personallydo it to my deck cards because it takes way too much time, and theexperimental one I did still makes my hands smell like acetone, andthere is too much risk involved. Though my Winged Rhynos looks prettyhot right now.

The other side's position is that it is no longera single card, but two destroyed cards. The issue was raised at onepoint concerning colored commons and such, and it left the decision tothe discretion of the individual Head Judges and Tournament Organizers. Is this going to be the same case? Or will it be ruled to be illegal? They are no thicker than normal cards (within a micrometer by mycaliper) and are no easier to stack than pack pulled cards, unlikethose annoying Hobby League cards.

I'd kindly thank anofficial for a decision concerning these issues, as it is somethingthat the community in general enjoys, and really wants to know.

Thank you.
