define 'you'...
from UDE's Player Management Forums
I was wondering if some one could point me in the direction of a deffinate deffinition of the word 'you' in relation to text on a card. My problem is this: at a recent tournament during a duel three judges all ruled that if an equip card on your side of the field was equiped to a monster on your opponants side of the field, they would be considerd 'you' according to the eqipt cards effect. let me give you the full details of the duel. my team is 1.
Player 1a has one set monster. Player 1b has one set monster. Player 2a has one set monster. Player 2b has an empty field. player 1b sacrifices two monsters to summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Player 1b equipts BEWD with mage power. Player 1b equipts BEWD with United We Stand. BEWD ATK = 4800. BEWD attacks player 2as face down card to reveal Battle Footballer. Player 1b ends turn. Player 2b draws. In main phase one he pay 800 lp to activate Brain Control on BEWD.
At this point what is BEWD ATK? I figure it to be 4000. But the three judges insisted that it was at 4800. They argued that the text of United We Stand said 'you control' and Mage Power said 'on your side of the field' (even tho that text has changed since my version of the card) and thus 'you control' ment monsters on the side of the field as the equipted monster.
thanks in advance, Ben Gamble
