How do you know you're ready?

This is something I've been wondering for awhile and I'm sure I"m not the only one. Something I've been wondering is how do you know when you're ready to start judging higher level tournaments like regionals,shonens, etc?
So far it seems like it's one of those things where you just kind of know if you're ready or not, but I wanted to see what everyone here had to say.
