URGENTLY need some Sage Advise
from UDE's Player Management Forums
Ok heres the dilemma I will be facing in 6 days,
I am Hosting a sanctioned event in Southend on Sea, Essex, UK, (Southend Grand Championships)
Although this is not a premier event we are going to be doing some huge prizes.
Now the Sponsor for this event (The local Gaming club) has banned 2 particular players from all tournaments and activities they are involved in,
One of the 2 people was caught stealing, the other accused of bending and not following rules including attempting to over rule a Head judge at one of their events...
Neither of these people are bad people at heart and they both have admitted to their wrong doing, Now when they were both banned from all of our sponsors activities I aggreed as part of gaining their sponsorship they would NOT be allowed to participate in this large event, However In the UDE official Tournament Policy it clearly stated T/O cannot arbitrarily (Randomly) ban players from events, unless that player was caught stealing etc etc, and then further goes into how they would of needed to be UNDER investigation by UDE to warrent a Suspension / Ban
Now i know this says clearly STEALING, and VIOLATING conduct, however BOTH of these events were NEVER taken further than giving the person a slap on the wrist.
The Games club also has is trying to ban one of them (NOT the one who commited a crime) for spamming their website. This was a personal act aimed at damaging the clubs reputation and is NOT related to UDE in any way, Now i do not condone any activity aimed at damaging anyones reputation, however i need to reach a decision and its going to make someone or persons VERY un-happy.
The club is using that as their primary reason for not allowing him to participate, However I am the T/O for this event and always strive to remain neutral to both the players and my sponsor however as a judge and T/O i have a responsibility to the two players, and as my sponsors i have a responsibility to THEM aswell.
(Both people in question are brothers)
Now i really dont know what to do, the way i see it, The one who bent the rules never got into any serious trouble and could easily be observed as a one off occurence, The act of thievery (NOT AT A UDE EVENT) was an aweful crime however solemnly swears to have learnt his lesson from his punishment...
Neither were taken to UDE and if it was, Save for one or two witnesses to the odd act, it would be the players word against the Clubs owners.
Please Advise me ASAP, Thanks in advance
Richard
