Please Give Me The Ruling - Normal Spells?

Cardinal

A scenario that I played last night around my friends, which raised a few eyebrows was,

I had Morphing Jar, on the field face down from my previous go, and it was now my standby stage again,
I drew Jar of Greed (Old traditional rules).
I then placed JoG in my spell / trap zones FACEDOWN, and flipped Morphing Jar.
That then gave me 5 NEW cards by its effect.

Then I flipped JoG on the field from my spell / trap zones face up, and got 2 more cards.

Was this a legal move?

I am one hundred percent sure that I have done this before with other normal spell cards, like Card Destruction in a Darkworld deck, when playing online.

Any feedback would be great,

Thanks

PS: I just played a game online, and set Giant trunade, and hovered over it, I could still activate it , iIf I had wanted too?

Jar of Greed is a trap, so you can't activate it right away. And it only lets you draw 1 card ;)

So I guess you mean Pot of Greed. Then YES, you can activate Normal Spells on the turn you Set them.

It only doesn't work for Quickplay Spell cards. With those, you have to wait one turn before you activate them after setting them.

With any other type of Spell card, you can activate it the same turn you set it.

And that same rule applies for traps as well.

Unless the condition of activation change...

Like some cards that say that you can activate them in the same turn they are set...

Anyone knows it's name?

I kinda forgot :p

There are no cards that allow you to activate Trap Cards in the same turn that you Set them. The nearest are Jetroid and Makyura the Destructor, which allow you to activate Trap Cards from your hand (under certain conditions, of course).
