Power Bond... The good one!

Blackscorp

Poison?... Loaded!!
(I posted it before, but only got a Blank post so i'm posting it again, sorry for the double post)

After reading the text on this card, a doubt has arisen.

Is it possible to use Torrential Tribute and such against a fusion monster summoned by Power Bond?

As i see it the last thing to happens was the attack increase and not the summon it self.

I would like to here your comments before sending it to the judge list (if needed :huh_jedi: ) .

The attack bonus happens 'simultaneously' or 'instantaneously' as the monster is Special Summoned. It's not a separate event in the eyes of the game. The Special Summon is still the last thing to have occurred, so the timing for cards like "Torrential Tribute" and "Bottomless Trap Hole" is still correct.

Hope this helps!

But wouldn't it be like Graceful Charity vs. Null and Void?

I unsderstood taht the monster was first summoned then the attack increase wa applied, since the monster need to be on the field for its attack to be increased.

It's more like Summoning a Light Monster when "Luminous Spark" is active. The ATK increase happens immediately upon the monster's summoning.

"Graceful Charity" is two separate effects. Draw, then discard.

What gets me really confused is how the text is worded.

Send, from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a Machine-Type Fusion Monster Card and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck. (This Special Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon). Increase the ATK of this Special Summoned Fusion Monster by an amount equal to its original ATK. During the End Phase of this turn, the player who activated this card takes damage equal to the original ATK of the Special Summoned monster.

Since the sentence is in past tense it looks like the attack increase happens just after the summoning is completed.

There is no real clear templating for effects that have two part resolutions. Just like there is no conceivable reason, based on the text alone, why Dark Worlders resolve there effects separately but as part of the same link. I think they are largely part of the confusion. To put it more plainly, more often then not, unless there is a ruling pointing out otherwise, then an effect resolves all at once, even if their text uses past tense or separate sentences for the effect.

In the case of a card like Graceful Charity, it's asking for the draw before the discard, so the linear progression is evident. In the case of Power Bond, there is no linear progression for the summon and the increase. It doesn't say "and then increase it's ATK". It' just says to increase it's ATK. Special Summoned is not an indication of linear progression.

The sentence is not past tense. "Increase" is the only verb (and is present tense)

"Special Summoned" is an adjective. Which monster is it? It is the special summoned monster. It is the big monster. It is the Red monster.

("Increase the attack of the monster special summoned by this effect" would be using summoned as a past tense verb)
