Pulling the Rug, Breaker

Can you activate Pulling the Rug when Breaker the Magical Warrior is summoned? I would think you could, but not sure if putting a Spell Counter is enough of an effect... heh.

Breaker's placement of the counter is a Mandatory Trigger Effect. So, yup.

I was wondering about breaker's "breaking" effect. Since you have to wait for the spell counter to be placed on him, can your opponent play torential tribute on him before you can activate his s/t removal effect?

Yes, when "Breaker" is summoned, his Mandatory Triggered Effect automatically activates, starting a chain. Then, your opponent can respond to this with cards like "Torrential Tribute", "Trap Hole" or "Bottomless Trap Hole".

Resolve the chain backwards and "Breaker" is destroyed before he ever gets his counter. So there's no way you'd have the chance to use it.
