related questions about Baou

removed from play
I realize this card isn't seen often, but Im working through some things and wanted to ask a few questions regarding Guardian Baou

1:
If Skill Drain becomes active, the effect of Guardian Baou is negated. If Skill Drain leaves the field, the stats of Guardian Baou do not reinstate. The effect is re-set to its original ATK.

Im basing this off Skill Drain rule #49:
[Re: Exodia Necross] While "Skill Drain" is active, "Exodia Necross"' ATK is returned to its original 1800 points. Even if "Skill Drain" then leaves play, "Exodia Necross" does no regain any ATK increases it had because of its effect, but it will begin to accumulate ATK points again.

Is my logic correct?

2:
the first part of the text for Baou states..
This card can only be Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned when there is a "Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou" on your side of the field...

therefore, if Guardian Baou is properly Summoned while Wicked Breaking Flamberge-Baou is on the field, can Baou later be revived from the Graveyard, EVEN if Flamberge no longer exists on the Field?

Im answering yes, based on its similarity in text to other monster cards that have the "only" term stated.

Is this correct?

3:
The Chop Man is Flip Summoned/The Kick Man is Special Summoned. Either of those monsters can legally target the Wicked Breaking Flamberge-Baou from the Graveyard without paying the cost.

Im basing this logic off of ruling #4 for Guardian Elma
[Re: Guardian Elma] You can equip a card with a cost, like "Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou" to "Guardian Elma" with her effect, and you don't have to pay the cost because the Equip Spell Card is not considered "activated".

Am I correct on this?

And finally, #4:
Player A controls a Guardian Baou and Otohime, both in attack position. Player B controls an Archfiend Soldier.

Player A activates Shien's Spy/Creature Swap, giving the opponent Otohime.

Player A then attacks Otohime with Guardian Baou, destroying it and sending it to the Graveyard.

Will the effect of Guardian Baou trigger?

Based off the second part of the text:
... Each time 1 of your opponent's monsters is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard in battle by this monster, increase the ATK of this card by 1000 points....
it would seem that the monster being referred to must be opponent's owned monsters in order to be a legal trigger for Baou's effect. But I am unclear as to whether or not it can also include your monsters, that are controlled by the opponent.

Rulings are scarce when concerning Baou, which is why I ask.
Any help is appreciated.

1. You are correct.
2. Unfortunately, I don't believe this card can be reborn w/o the "Wicked Flamberge" active on the field. The Reasoning behind this is because he is NOT a Special Summon only monster. He CAN be normal summoned, so this pulls him out of that realm.
3. Once again, you would be correct.
4. I would have to say no on this one. The Reasoning would be the monster would have to go to your opponent's Graveyard.

I could very well be wrong for both #2 and #4.

I have been searching for answers to #2 and #4 for a while. It seems that discussions from back in the days of DCR are not often kept in the records of most sites.=/ go figure

I want to say that I read (somewhere long ago) that Guardians could not be revived without thier equipment weapon being present on the field. But the format for the text led me to believe otherwise.

#4 is a long shot. Once again, the specific text wording leads me to believe it cannot trigger by destroying your own monsters. But....I cannot find any justification outside of reading the text and using my own logic.

lord know, me using logic is like drunk children and firearms.

Had a really nice responce typed up, and when I posted I got a Internal Server Error for like ten minutes. So, here goes again:

1 and 3 are spot on logic.

As for 2, Guardian Baou follows the rules of all other Guardian Cards. The proper equip must be face-up on the field for ANY kind of summon to be performed. These rules are referred to on the judges list and the FAQ had them at one time. They should still have them under thier own seperate heading for Guardian Cards. The registry doesn't have access to those kind of rulings I don't belive.

And 4, going by the text alone, which is all you can really do in this case, then "your opponent's monsters" would be surperfluous text as it doesn't specify who's Graveyard the monster must go to, nor does it imply ownership, only control. Naturally, what else could you destroy as a result of battle but "your opponent's monsters"?
