Ring of Destruction "game tie" rules?

IMO, Ring of D is one of the few cards that's infamously known for changing a "loss" into a "tie"

Like both players have low LP, your foe summons a big monster for the win attack, you activate Ring of D for a tie instead by both players going 0 LP at the same time.

So, what happens in game rules?

Like you have 1 round win, 2nd round tie. Then what? Say you get a loss in the 3rd round. That's 1/1/1 right there with no win condition. Or say you get 2 rounds with both being a tie.

I believe you would continue playing until one player had won two matches. That is, assuming you do not go over the time limit, at which point the rules become too complicated, but I believe there is something like a 4-turn play after time is called?

If both players are dropped to zero Life Points. Both players start a completely fresh Duel. You play normally until one player wins the Duel or time is called. If a winner isn't determined before time is called then you follow the End Match Procedures in the policy documents.

First part of the End Match Procedures is both players have two turns each. The first turn begins with the current Turn Player and ends with the Non-Turn Player. After that you check life points after all card effects have resolved in any currect Chain Block that might be in the middle of resolving. If a winner still isn't determined you continue (I think) with the current game and the first change in life points determines the winner after all card effects resolve in the current Chain Block.

I might have missed something. =/

Correct, a player must WIN two games for a match to be completed.

It's not "Best two out of three"....you could play 15 duels but no winner is determined and a match isn't settled until one of the players wins two of the games.

The only time this is not true is when you come down to End of Time procedures.

I'm not catching something....how is it that end of time prodcedures change this? Even if time is called a player must still win two games to win a match....if time is called for the match during game 1, players will finish that game with the proper proceedure, then move onto a 2nd and if necessary 3rd four turn game to decide the match.

Well...I'll be, here I'd read the first part about needing to win two games to win a match and was at nationals two years ago when they implamented the end of match procedures...at that time they didn't have ths stipulation we've been speaking of....I'm REALLY glad you pointed it out to me!

You know how when they introduce a new format they put on the bottom the cards that have changed? I wish they'd do the same with policy documents / FAQ / etc. As well, I wish they'd send out or post "notices" when an official document has changed rather than making us search through them all for any change. Between FAQ, 3 Policy documents, Errata, judge's list, etc, etc. it's an awful good deal to sift through to keep updated.

Thanks again for updating me!

What they should do is, make all changes in red for the Period of the Change, until the next update, and make an announcement when a policy is updated on the Judge List, so at least we know to take a look at it.

Sure, there are always going to be people who never take a look at the Policy Letters, but there should be more than enough who do, and point out the changes to those who don't.

By the way, I completely forgot it (more than a year without using Ring lol) if the game 1 is a tie, who starts the second game? The same person that started game 1, right? Or is it necessary to roll a dice again?

Ring of Destruction - who loses points first?

Hello

If my life points are higher than my opponent, and I activate Ring of Destruction to destroy a monster whose ATK is higher than both our life points, does my opponent die first (and hence I win) or do we both die at the same time?

Is this a priority issue?

Thanks
Wizit

All the damage is dealt to both players at the same time, NOT to your opponent first and then you (or vice versa).

That scenario would be a tie.
