Greetings,

I've been wanting to build a Rock deck, my youngest son Paul (who is legendary for his luck, so much so that players beg him to sit anywhere near him during a match in hopes of it somehow rubbing off) has, for some reason, gotten it in his head that this is the type of deck he wants to play....even though he has no idea how they work <shrug> anyway....

I certainly wouldn't take my suggestions with a grain of salt concerning this deck as I have little experience with it, I would suggest though that you consider the possibilties....

Giant Rat has the potential to special summon a good many of your monsters as well as help maintain field presence. This is the only major change I might make to the monster line-up.

Another possibility (though it may seem odd) might be a Wandering Mummy (also able to hit the field via Giant Rat) With Wandering Mummy's effect you'll be able to shuffle your face down monsters and keep your opponenent on their toes.

Yet another surprise that Giant Rat can bring out in a Rock deck is Enraged Muka Muka, don't laugh, this powerhouse has won me many a match. If you don't have the cards to support it's effect then use Metamorphosis to on it to special summon Dark Balter the Terrible.

Other interesting possibilties for your Rock deck would be Morphing Jar (especially if you're using Shallow Grave as you are) and Labyrinth Wall.

If you are interested in another Rock deck possibility consider the Hex Sealed Fusion monsters all of which are Rock type and easily put into the graveyard for use by Megarock Dragon.

As for your Spell and Trap line-up I don't see a copy of Heavy Storm or Dark Hole in your deck. Obviously you don't HAVE to use these to power houses but why would you not?

I'm not sure that Gaia Power really works to your advantage in this deck. It DECREASES the def. of your earth monsters taking away one of their best attributes. I also think you could do without the Threatening Roars. Taking these cards out would clear the way for some of the following possibilities....If no where else consider these trap cards for your side deck.

Minefield Eruption (w/ Mine Golem)

Rock Bombardment (feeds Megarock Dragon and puts your Guardian Sphinx in your graveyard for easy retrieval with Shallow Grave)

If you ever start focusing on Megarock Dragon then consider using Dimension Fusion or Return From The Different Dimesion. Miracle Dig would let you retrieve your RFP monster to use again for another Megarock Dragon.

As I said, all just possibilities. I need experience with this deck type to know what does and doesn't fly for sure.

Much to read, much interesting suggestions. Forgot about Giant Rat. I already knew Wandering Mummy. It is an option.. but I need to think about it. Morphing Jar... if I had him, I'd use him. About Hex-Sealed... I searched Netrepâ„¢ 3x for Rock-fusions, and at this very particular time, after 2x getting the message "no records found", it seems to be gone crazy (search of already 3 minutes or so...). I have got a Heavy Storm... forgot to put him in... *wonders how much more mistakes are following*.
Minefield Eruption is probably a good idea. I'll try to get 2 of it. Rock Bombardment is indeed a good idea  Especially with The Shallow Grave. Dimension Fusion is a good option.. Will try to get 1. And 2 Miracle Dig...

+ 2 Giant Rat
+ Morphing Jar
+ Heavy Storm
+ 2 Minefield Eruption
+ Dimension Fusion
+ Rock Bombardment
+ Miracle Dig

I already have those Hieracosphinx... so I guess you're right about Threatening Roar. Also true that Gaia Power weakens my defenses... I think 1 of the 2 Giant Rats will be used to replace the Moai Interceptor Cannons.

- 2 Gaia Power
- Terraforming
- 2 Threatening Roar
- Moai Interceptor Cannons

About the other options: either I think I don't need them, or I don't have them....
