Now that the new ban list is here, what kind of decks can we expect to see?

Monarchs didn't take too much of a blow. Even though they're missing Ring and Snatch, and Brain Control is limited to 1, they're still going to be popular.

Jinzo Control may come back, considering he's come back to 2 per deck. Seriously, that was a gutsy move.

Gadgets have been getting less attention, but they're still a force to be reckoned with even at 2 per deck.

T-Hero decks, Diamond Dude Turbo, Perfect Circle...sorry. Looks as though those decks are finished for good.

Six Samurai may become a top deck type now. Espically now that they'll be getting support in Gladiator's Assault and that Double Summon is here. The ban list helped too. ^_^

The new Venom monsters may be a formadible force also. Venom Swamp on it's own is a nightmare if used right. Not to mention they have Vennominon and Venominaga.

Elemental Hero Big City decks are coming on the rise lately, and although they may not be Tier 1 decks yet...well, we'll see.

Dark World decks. Eh, what the hey?

What else has a chance out there? Anyone else have any ideas or thoughts about what's been listen.

Honestly, I think with this ban list, I can see Skill Drain going really welll.... especially if you provide the right support for that deck like Fake Trap and Cold Wave .... to limit your opponents ability to defend themselves from the onslaught

So here's a crazy thought, with The Paths of Destiny and Gift Card now available, do you think anybody is going to try a Simochi OTK deck? I know it's not looking to helpful for traps at the moment, but I'm sure there are ways to make it work.

I do see the potential for burn to return in some format though.

It's not crazy ... my friend plays it and he's mostly killing people in three turns. I was only one who beat him in tournament and that's only because I had three Decrees and Jinzo in main deck. But even with this I went 2-1, because in second game he gave me 7000 dmg in my first turn and finished me on his second.

Well.... we just have to look at alternative ways of stopping jinzo and decree... like Prohibition and Double Snare .....

I think Skill Drain could be pretty good. I saw it at a tourny over the weekend, and it could be tough...

I am going to experiment with 2x Jinzos/2x Dark Rulers in a Return build and see where that goes. Could be a very aggressive deck, just have to figure out the ratios/etc.

I agree with you guys. Simochi Burn/Burn decks and Skill Drain decks have great potential in this format. I myself run a Skill Drain/Normal Monster deck as my 2nd strongest deck (next to my Monarch/Wicked Eraser deck). Skill Drain just got a whole lot more annoying/powerful.

Simochi/Appropriate hold some promise here too with the release of The Gift of Greed and Gift Card. Somehow though...I see Gift Card/Simochi seeing more play than The Gift of Greed/Appropriate. >_>

And what exactly is this NEW otk/1stTk ... ??

Player has three Gift Cards set along with Bad Reaction to Simochi.

Activate and chain all three Gift Cards to each other with Bad Reaction to Simochi as the last card in the chain.

Resolve Simochi first and then the three Gift Cards. 9000 damage. Game over.

well..i've done a bit of testing and i can definitely say demise otk can do well this format..sure there's a tiny bit of luck involved but its not too hard to pull off..esp demise+megamorph+doom dozer + dimension fusion..that's insanity..xD

Hey, i think that aggressive water decks should be spoken for aswell. the ability to summon 2650 hitters with out tribs, tribbing ALO for total destruction is pretty formadible.

Decks to watch out for?

Apprentice engine, ESPECIALLY Apprentice Monarch. This can replace the loss of Snatch and 1x Brain.

Merchant Pot Turbo. With 2x PoA, this can bring back Magical Merchant and 1x Card Trooper for Pot Turbo

Zombie Swarm. Zombie Master/Il Blud focused Zombie build. Watch out for endless stream of Ryu Kokki too.

Jinzo abuse. Jinzo can replace some of the Monarch use. It won't be pure Monarch for tribute summons now IMO.

Six Samurai decks will get scary in the next set. So we don't have to worry for about 2~3 months.

I played a decently impressive Demise the other day that ran "Desert Twister", I ran into my sides and I still lost horribly on that one.

<smiles /> Yeah, Simochi really has some nice potential, even before Gift Card. I'd get the engine started, then hit an Upstart or two, then a Rain of Mercy, discard a Burning Algae for a Vortex or something, suicide some Germs into my opponents monster, then swap them an Ameba at the end, fun stuff 8^D

I don't think Demise is dead either. I think the banning of Megamorph and Metamorphosis (though I'll miss good 'ol Meta) allows the serious player to work with Demise more. There are stll plenty of options for the fiend. 8^D

I personally think this list is very Crystal Beast friendly... and I myself run a CB deck... I'm enjoying this list very much...

I'm going to tackle the Crystal Beast, now that I'm keeping my Rainbow Dragaon, and Jinzo Abuse - I see him as the poor man's Monarch, almost. Not many people may run 2, so that's what I'm going to do. :)
