Silent Magician LV4
(LIGHT/Spellcaster/4/1000/1000)
Each time your opponent draws a card(s), place 1 Spell Counter on this card (Max: 5 Counters). For each Spell Counter on this card, increase it's ATK by 500 points. When there are 5 Spell Counters on this card, during your next Standby Phase send this face-up card to the Graveyard and Special Summon 1 "Silent Magician LV8" from your Hand or Deck.
There are no published rulings for this card yet.
Spell Counter week keeps on churning with Silent Magician LV4, the newest addition to the Spellcaster family. Silent Magician LV4 has extreme potential, and I can already tell before even using it. There are so many ways to abuse its effect and I think it's a beautiful monster. And the thing is, it can get even more beautiful when LV8 comes into play.
Since you can only have 5 Spell Counters max. on this card, it's hard to actually abuse it. However, you can activate card effects like Card Destruction and Morphing Jar to give it its Spell Counters instantly, hit your opponent for 3500, and then get LV8 out your next turn. That's basically one of the only combos you can use it with that I can think of. You could make a Greed deck with it, too, I assume. Armor Exe, Pitch-Black Power Stone, Apprentice Magician, and Magical Plant Mandragola all help/benefit from this card as well, which is useful. And don't forget the easy way out - Level Up! (thanks chaosruler
)
Its advantages are mainly that 1) It can have a very nice ATK and 2) It can summon Silent Magician LV8 who laughs at your opponent's Spell Cards.
It also has disadvantages, too, though. The low DEF can be a hindrence, what with Tsukuyomi and Book of Moon. The original low ATK can be bad when you have no effects to abuse it with too. And, if you aren't using card effects to help your opponent draw cards, it may not stay on the field long enough to get 5 Spell Counters.
As was aforementioned, using this monster in conjunction with cards like Card Destruction and Morphing Jar to speed things up is an excellent idea that I'd highly recommend if you want to let your Silent Magician LV8 see play. Also, abusing its effect by attacking your opponent directly with such a high ATK is a good idea too. Be careful of Ring of Destruction (until October, maybe) and Magic Cylinder, though. Those could ruin your day.
Keep this monster in either a Silent Magician Deck where you can get out LV8 quickly, a Spellcaster Deck with a lot of Spell Counter cards, or even a Greed Deck, where you can power it up and hurt your opponent simutaneously. Adding Magical Thorns with that is a good idea too.
Ratings:
Advanced: 3.7/5. I think it has amazing potential and is very capable.
Traditional: 2.5/5. I think it suffers here way too much, since letting your opponent draw is a bad idea.
Limited and Sealed: --/5.
