Smashing Ground and Face down monsters

Due to the new errata on TER, Its been established that a face down monster has 0 atk and 0 def until flipped face up.

Smashing Ground "destroy 1 monster with the highest DEF on your opponent's side of the field."

Why would Smashing Ground not be able to destroy a face down monster?

A face down down monster does not have 0 ATK and 0 DEF. A face down monster has an unknown ATK and DEF. Smashing Ground can't destroy a face down monster since there is no way to tell if it has the lowest DEF.

And further, since that ATK/DEF is unknown while the card is face down, TER/Relinquished's effect cannot determine how what to add to their base ATK/DEF so they stay at 0/0.
