Question 1: Is it legal to have a fusion deck with no way to use fusions no scientist fusion gate or poly... also what is the absolute limit to how large your fusion deck can be.

Question 2 : can you side deck fusions since you can't add them to your actual deck...

Question 3: when life points hit zero the game is over correct heres a direct example

player 1 has 1000 lp's plays self destruct button making both players hit 0 lp's the game is over automatically and player 0ne couldnt also chain poison of the old man to keep himself alive right?

Question 4.Are you required to have a side deck and if so does it have to be exactly 15 cards.

1. Yes

2. No, but I'd ask that Bishop confirm this.

3. Correct, if life points reach zero during the resolution of a chain then the game is over without further resolving the chain.

4. No you are not 'required' to have a side deck, but if you do have one then it must contain exactly 15 cards.

1. The limit on a fusion deck is 20 different monsters with a maximum of 3 copies of each.

2. Side Decks only revolve around your main deck. If you intend to run a fusion at all, it must be in your Fusion Deck at all times.

3 and 4 have already been answered.

1. The limit on a fusion deck is 20 different monsters with a maximum of 3 copies of each.

Can you refer me to the rules regarding this please? As far as I was aware there was no restriction on fusion deck size (just as there is no restriction on main deck size), as long as there were no more than 3 copies of each monster.

It's in UDE's Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament Policies document.

When playing in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG tournaments, each player is allowed to bring a Fusion monster deck to the tournament in addition to his or her regular deck. The fusion monster deck is limited to 20 different cards, although the player may have up to 3 copies of each of those 20 cards.

Most likely it had to do with people bringing full Fusion Decks with EVERY Fusion card printed (3 copies of each, of course) and taking forever finding a particular card. Given that there are about 50 Fusions out right now, that's a lot of cards.

Oh yeah, there's something I've been wondering about. What would happen if someone did have a Fusion Deck with 20 different monsters and they were filling out the Deck Registration thingy? It only has space for 15 different Fusion monsters. Where would you write the other five?

Along the side of the form or on the back. Just make sure to note it on the form as well as to tell the person handling registration about it.

Along these lines, if you are going to be building large Fusion Decks, please for the sake of the judges and for the sake of time, keep your Fusion Deck alphabetized. This will help with any Deck Checks that occur as well as making it easier for you to find your Fusion.

player 1 has 1000 lp's plays self destruct button making both players hit 0 lp's the game is over automatically and player 0ne couldnt also chain poison of the old man to keep himself alive right?

Here's the reasoning behind why this would not work....
If a player chains poison of the old man to self destruct button it becomes the 2nd link in a chain.

LIFO chain system so Poison resolves first, then Self destruct button which still puts both players LP to 0. So chaining the old fart wouldn't solve anything. Only way to stop it is seven tools/solemn/jinzo, etc.

You are correct. Poison of the Old Man won't help you in that situation.

However, if lets say you have 7800 LP and your opponent has 800 LP. Your opponent activates Self-Destruct Button. You chain with Poison of the Old Man and uses its second effect (inflict 800 points of Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points). He does not chain anymore. Then you win the duel.
