Some rulings of Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle

Well, there's some stuff that I'm not sure about.

#1: Does Ruby's effect kick in if special summoned during damage step? (Say by Shining Angel)

-------------

#2: If a new Crystal Beast is created on the s/t zone AFTER Ruby was special summoned, can Ruby's effect special summon it?

Example of that question

Say Ruby Carbuncle was special summoned. (By either Premature Burial, Crystal Beacon, Crystal Promise, Crystal Abundance, Rainbow Ruin, etc.) I only have 1 s/t of Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus.

Sapphire Pegasus is special summoned.

Sapphire Pegasus effect kicks in, it puts a 2nd Sappire Pegasus in the s/t zone.

Ruby will target that 2nd Sapphire Pegasus, so that 2nd one is summoned. The 2nd one will put a 3rd Sapphire Pegasus in the s/t zone, and repeat. And the 3rd one will put whatever else Crystal Beast and that last one will be special summoned as well by Ruby's effect.

I THINK this is legal. (And one broken combo I might add)

-----------------

#3: Now long is Ruby Carbuncle's effect last on the field. Is it as long as Ruby Carbuncle is on the field, or even if it's destroyed after special summoned, it still goes on?

Example

Ruby Carbuncle was special summoned. Your foe activated Torrential Tribute in response.

Can Ruby still special summon the other Crystal Beast on the s/t zone, or will Ruby's effect end. (Well, of course, Ruby will go back to s/t if the player feels like it)

1) Gadgets get their effect when they are Special Summoned during the Damage Step. I don't see why Ruby Carbuncle would be any different so I would say "Yes you get the effect".

2) No the combo isn't legal nor is there any lingering effect to Ruby Carbuncle. When RC is Special Summoned, you can take all the current Crystal Beasts in the S/T zone and Special Summon them. It's a Trigger Effect. It activates, it resolves. That's it.

3) I summon Mobius and target 2 S/T. My opponent chains Torrential Tribute. The 2 S/T cards are still destroyed. Same scenario. Once the effect activates, it'll resolve even if Ruby isn't around.

ic. so Ruby targets whatever Crystal beast that's on the s/t zone and can special summon them on the moment it was special summoned. So whatever Crystal Beast on s/t that comes out after is created, (i.e. by Sapphire Pegasus) it can't target them so you can't summon them.

That makes alot more sense. Thanks.

Ruby Carbuncle doesn't target. When it's summoned, you can special summon whatever is in your S/T zone (even itself if it got destroyed in the same chain and you put it there). That's it.

No. Ruby's effect only activates when it is Special Summoned. So say you did:

Chain Link 1: Ruby's effect.

Resolve: Special Summon the Crystal Beasts. Say Sapphire Pegasus is one of them.

New Chain Begins.

Link 1: Sapphire Pegasus' effect.

Resolve: Add a Crystal Beast from somewhere to the S/T zone.

That's all.

If you look we've long since passed the part where Ruby Carbuncle was Special Summoned so anything placed there after that initial chain resolves just stays there.

Okay, it does makes sense. Then how about this example.

Ruby was special summoned.

In the s/t zone there's 2x Topaz Tiger and 2x Sapphire Pegasus.

First, you special summon 2x Topaz Tiger (No prob here)

Then you go onto the Sapphire Pegasus

After the first one is special summoned, and you put a new Crystal Beast on the s/t zone by Pegasus's effect, you can still special summon the 2nd Sapphire Pegasus that was originally on the s/t zone right? (And put another Crystal Beast on that zone)

No.

Really, you're going against basic mechanics here.

When Ruby Carbuncle is Special Summoned, as many Crystal Beasts in the S/T Zone are Special Summoned as Possible (like Dimension Fusion / Return from the Different Dimension) should you choose to activate the effect.

Assuming you have the space, all 4 would be considered Special Summoned to the field at the same time. Once that effect resolves, both Sapphire Pegasus effects activate at the same time and go on the chain (SEGOC here). In this case you add 1 Crystal Beast to the S/T zone as 1 effect resolves, then another for the other. But again, this occurs after the Special Summoning has resolved. What you described has you activating 1 effect (and trying to resolve it) while you are still in the middle of resolving another effect.
