Does Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower's effect of sending 2 cards activate when a Zombie-type monster is Special summoned on the other side of the field ?

yes read the card text

This card cannot be attacked if there is another Zombie-Type monster on your side of the field. Each time a Zombie-Type monster is Special Summoned successfully, send 2 cards from the top of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.

From the UDE FAQ:

"If a Zombie-Type monster is Special Summoned on your opponent's side of the field, "Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower"'s effect activates."

So, yes it will.

I don't understand why you would want to use spell absorbing bone tower. It discards 2 cards off the top of your opponents deck. Woohoo. Big deal. That might actually help your opponent out. You never know. It's a chancy card.

It may help your opponent out, but depending on what he has in his hand already (if he has one), it puts him 2 cards closer to decking out. Either way, its 2 cards less he will have in hand since whatever he does to get those cards back, comes at a cost of one or several card effects.

Half of the cards in this game are 'chancy' cards.

The idea behind the 'Bone Tower' is to help deck out your opponent and make them waste cards on trying to retrieve any 'needed' cards sent to the graveyard by it's effect.

Example:

Player A has 'Bone Tower' on the field.
Player B has 1 monster on the field and a set 'Call of the Haunted' from a previous turn.
Player A uses 'Book of Life' to Special Summon a Zombie.
Player A removes a monster from Player B's graveyard, then Player B sends two cards from the top of their deck to the Graveyard, one card being 'Monster Reincarnation' (the only one in the deck), the other being 'The Creator'.

'The Creator' is now stuck in the graveyard unless a 'Fiber Jar' or something else can put it back int he deck, or the hand, not to mention, they are now two cards closer to the bottom of their deck.

Or course it's 'chancy', but that's part of the fun of this game.

Not to start a whole new argument, but this game is, IMHO, 70% luck, and 30% skill. Most of what happens is EXTREMELY dependant on the shuffle of the cards. The skill comes from what you do with that shuffle.

[Edit] Beaten to it by Master...darn!

The more cards of your opponent you see, the better your strategic advantage.

For example:
If Mirror Force is discarded by soul-absorbing bone-tower, you know you don't have to worry about it, and can keep all your monsters in attack position.

If your opponent has 25 cards in the graveyard, and Mirror Force isn't one of them, you might want to be more conservative with your monsters.

I guess what you all said was true. But if you want to use the bone tower wouldn't you want to put it in a deck based around decking your opponent out? I think that would be good there, but NOT in any other deck.

Actualy when you think of all the Special Summoning ability you can out into a Zombie deck, not to mention if you have two on the field your opponent is trapped in a Zombie-Lock, and I believe the two effects will stack, your looking at a pretty strong combo not neccasarily centered around decking your opponent out.

Wow ! Digital Jedi understood the heart of my deck !
I'm playing Yugi-oh TCG for fun. I've already played a lot of swarming deck (in fact I'm still playing one with Gravekeepers). That's why I'd like to play an original Zombie deck. I've already try it and it's really fun to see your opponent doing everything he can to clear my field while having a couple of cards in their hand and deck :D
This deck can be a tournament winner (Zombies are still about swarm) but that's not what I expect from a deck. Boy ! It's just a game !
