Special Summoning of Horus Level 8

My question is can Horus Level 8 be special summoned from the graveyard with CoTH, Premature Burial, etc. after having been special summoned successfully through the leveling up (either with the card Level Up! or through the effects of Level 4 & 6) process?

I have recieved both answers to this in the past - that you are able to and that you can't.

Any clarification is appreciated!

Also, I know Premature Burial can be used on Level 6, but what exactly does it do on the field? I've been told that it just kind of sits there doing nothing - so that if it's destroyed Level 6 stays on the field.

And one last one: can Level Up! be used on Level 6? It seems obvious that it should, I just know some people argue that it can't.

The answer flat out is "no". Horus LV8 is a "Nomi" monster ("This card cannot be normal summoned or set. This card can not be special summoned EXCEPT BY [whatever]).

So you cannot reborn him no matter what. All you can do it return him to your hand (Monster Reincarnation) and summon him properly again.

That's the first line of Level Up! That's a cost, alright. No offense intended, just showing my evidence.

No offense taken. Thanks for the clarifications. I've always believed you could use Level Up! on 6, but some argued that since Level Up! was a magic it wouldn't effect Level 6.

So the point is that it can because it's a Cost. Got it.

And Horus 8 can't be special summoned through COTH etc. Thanks. And that's why I run 2 Level 8's.

An easy way to remember how a Nomi monster works is to read just the first part of the description. If you read "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned" and stop right there, that tells you that the monster can't be summoned at all.....until you read a little further and see the only exception on how it can be summoned. Hence the term "except by".
