Spirit Reaper vs. Reaper on the Nightmare

I was wondering, since Spirit Reaper says:
Spirit Reaper
Effect Monster (Zombie / DARK / 3 Stars / ATK 300 / DEF 200)
This card is not destroyed as a result of battle. Destroy this card when it is targeted by the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster. If this card successfully attacks your opponent's Life Points directly, your opponent discards 1 card randomly from his/her hand.
However, Reaper on the Nightmare says:

Reaper on the Nightmare
Fusion Monster (Zombie / DARK / 5 Stars / ATK 800 / DEF 600)
"Spirit Reaper" + "Nightmare Horse"
This monster is not destroyed as a result of battle at any time, although damage calculation is applied normally. When this card is specifically designated as a target of the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card, this card is immediately destroyed. This monster can attack your opponent's Life Points directly even if there is a monster on your opponent's side of the field. When this card attacks your opponent's Life Points directly, 1 card is randomly selected from your opponent's hand and discarded to the Graveyard.

Does this mean that Reaper on the Nightmare doesn't wait for the chain to resolve, or what?

Despite the slight difference in text...both effects are identical.

It will resolve directly after the targeting effect resolves...between links.

Thanks a gajillion, Novastar

also, i read Strike Ninja's post on the Giant Trunade thread about your "epic" battle against Masterwoo0 and daivahataka, it was hilarious:)

I laughed a lot too... it was funny to say the least...

Both of these monsters are Destroy or immediately destroyed when it is targeted by the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster or when this card is specifically designated as a target of the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card, so I would guess that Poleymerzation (misspelled) doesn't target. Just a stupid thought at 3:28 in the AM.

Actually just to add to this, it seems as though the Card Registry is in error.

The actual text, if you read the microscopic card text on the Spirit Reaper or if you have a copy read the actual card, it states:

"When this card is specifically designated as a target of the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card, this card is immediately destroyed."

not

"Destroy this card when it is targeted by the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster."

The text for both Spirit Reaper and Reaper on the Nightmare is identical.

they were using the text from the structure deck Spirit Reaper...
and that is exactly how it is said
so, do i believe the structure deck or just listen to y'all?

also, they forgot to add the part in the structure deck Spirit Reaper where it says that Damage Calculation is calculated normally. Ahhh, omiting the best part.
so, no battle damage against Spirit Reaper?
i doubt that, but just checking

The rulings for the damage have never changed. It will take battle damage and the player will take LP damage.

The rulings for the triggered effect have changed twice. Currently, the ruling says that Spirit Reaper destroys itself between links of a chain. It is not a triggered effect, as you cannot chain to it. Therefore, it is continuous and resolves between links.
