Strike Ninja & RFDD

Hi everybody! It's a long time since I left my last post here...and during this time, I made a lot of experience: I was one of the judge at the Italian Nationals! It was the first time for me, very exciting! :D I can't go to the European Tournament because of the university...

Now, a small question: Strike Ninja on my side of the field, I activate his effect and remove from play 3 monsters (him, and 2 dark monsters from my graveyard). Later during the same turn, I activate Return from the Different Dimension, summoning all the removed monsters. During the end phase, they are all removed from play again.

Does Strike Ninja's effect activate then, and he returns on the field? Or is his effect disappeared when I've summoned him from the removed monsters?

There's a ruling on the Netrep, but it is about the reverse situation: Strike Ninja activates his effect after being summoned with Return from the Different Dimension. :p

Thanks a lot, bye!

I would say that it comes back. The condition only looks for the card to be in the Removed From Play Area during the End Phase. So when the End Phase arrives, two effects must finish. "Return from a Different Dimension" must remove the monsters it Summoned from play and "Strike Ninja" has to return to the field. As long as you resolve "Return from a Different Dimension" first, "Strike Ninja" will be out of play for his effect to return him. Since they're both the turn player's effects, the turn player can decide which order to resolve them.

I disagree.

"¢ If "Vampire Lord" is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by your opponent's card effect, but returns to the field that same turn and is then destroyed in a manner that would not allow him to be Special Summoned, then he is not Special Summoned.

I'd say that returning Strike Ninja to play resets his effect.

Strike Ninja will only keep its effect of "I'm coming back in the End Phase!" if he stays sitting quietly in the Fourth Dimension. If he gets moved from there, the sudden jolt and the shock will make him forget he's coming back later, even if he returns back to the Fourth Dimension later on.

In other words, he'll only come back if he's removed from play by his own effect, and then nothing else happens to him. The problem is, Return From the Different Dimension did indeed do something to him, and at the end of it he's been removed from play by the effect of Return From the Different Dimension, NOT by his own effect. So he won't come back by his own effect, because the last thing that happened to him WASN'T him removing himself from play with his own effect.

It could possibly be as simple as the fact that he was "summoned", and that reset his effect as well, since he is not summoning himself at the End Phase, like D.D. Survivor.

Isn't he Special Summoning himself with his effect? I'm not saying I'm not wrong, but I haven't seen anything about this and I don't know if the condition placed on him coming back can be reset by his being Summoned some other way.

I'm also not sure that "Vampire Lord" can be used as a comparison. Removed From Play and the Graveyard are not treated the same. For example, "Dark Ruler Ha des" can be Special Summoned from the Removed From Play Area, but not from the Graveyard.

I may be wrong on this but since Strike Ninja was properly removed from play, doesn't the effect become a "lingering" effect? The effect of returning is conditional on him being "removed from play". As long as RFDD effect is resolved BEFORE Strike Ninja's effect resolves, then he should be able to return.

His effect is reset as soon as he is summoned. It's no different than if he was destroyed, sent to the Graveyard, and a 2nd Strike Ninja removes him for his effect. Would the one that was sent to the Graveyard "still" have his lingering effect because he made it to RFG before the End Phase? No.

Summoning him resets his effect, but he cannot use it again since it does not reset the condition of "once per turn". So, when he is sent back to RFG by RftDD, he is being removed from play by a different effect that was not his doing, and his effect will not resolve from his original removal.
