Summoner Of Illusions abuse?

With all the hype on Cyberstien of course I couldn't help but look at Summoner Of Illusions.....a shame it isn't a 2 star monster (could abuse Apprentice Magcian with it) Still, I think there are possibilities here in a Spellcaster deck with Tsukuyomi, Scapegoat, etc....or even possibly in a Strike Ninja / Treeborn Frog deck....difficult to protect Summoner Of Illusions though during your opponent's battle phase. Perhaps using Ultimate Offering might be the best idea?

I'd like to explore the possibility of using Summoner Of Illusions and would like your thoughts on the best ways to do so or a deck which features it or uses it well.

Well, despite all the hype, still probably the best way to abuse SOI, if you ask me, is to bring out Fiend Skull Dragon. It still gets to stay on the field and you have a nice 2K attacker that negates flip effects and negates those pesky Sakuretsu's and Bottomless Trap Holes.

I think SOI was squared away nicely in a Berserk Dragon type abuse deck. Bring out a Gatling Dragon/Cyber Twin Dragon, let it send some havoc and then when the fusion is destroyed, it can trigger Berserk Dragon to come out and play.

I think you could also have some fun with some Soul Control since you need a monster to tribute for SOI. Goat tokens or your opponent's monster via Soul Exchange/Brain control would be quite fun. Use a Shallow Grave to rinse, wash, and repeat. Though if it was me. I'd probably throw and Ultimate Offering into the mix so I could have a Brain Jacker ready to go too 8^D

I could certainly see Brain Control / Snatch Steal aiding here, however, Soul Exchange really won't help as you wouldn't be able to attack with the newly summoned Fusion monster that turn and other than Fiend Skull Dragon the monster would be destroyed at the end of the turn.

It appears you really need a way of protecting SOI from being attacked, Thunder Of The Ruler might work well along with UO....perhaps the best option is to already have a strong monster on the field as a threat to protect SOI. The best defense is a good offense?

True true, I was thinking more the "snatching" card in general as opposed to Soul Exchange.

I'm thinking either a good chunk of Threatening Roars or the proper use of UO will keep SOI in good hands.

Say, if your opponent flip summons Morphing Jar, can you chain Desert Sunlight to flip your set SOI, special summon FSD, and then preven the hand thinning? I'm thinking so because you put Turn Player mandatory effects on the chain, then opponent Mandatory effects, then resolve backwards...

Maybe a Taunt in there to protect the SOI if you have a nice beat stick out and protected?

Here is a nice combo:

Standby:
Treeborn Frog revives

MP1:
Set SOI
Activate Book of Taiyou
Offer TF as a cost
Bring out Fusion monster of choice (e.g. CED)

Battle:
(Activate My Body as a Shield to keep attack going through)
(Activate Limiter Removal on Machine Fusion)

MP2:
Activate Dimension Hole/Book of Moon/Metamorphosis to keep Fusion monster.

I knew there was potential for SOI useage with Treeborn Frog, just couldn't think of how to do so. Nice call on Book Of Taiyou.

SOI is a Spellcaster as well so there is potential for use with Magical Dimension.

Well, John I use a SOI in my deck (the only thing keeping it from CC). I usually special summon a monster and use his effect. I have thought about 2 in my deck but unless someone using SOI has a lot of tribute fodder, it won't work out. Also, to combo with it is to have a Last Will in your hand, when you can use his effect. With SOI bring out CED or CTD and then use Last Will to take out a Cyber-Stein for some serious damage.

I've done this in my Blue-Eyes OTK Deck (my invention) it's key is to summon any possible form of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon mostly Ultimate and Dragon's Rage and also the normal Blue-Eyes to attack with the aid of Dragon's Rage too, but the Summoner of Illusions is a great card (with Pot of Avarice).
