Bringer of Doom
Ok people tell us your experiences of this sneak.

I found it quite tough. We hadnt got our gemini summoners due to a couriers problem so the geminis were all but useless.

The venom guys were fun and venom swamp was the greatest card there and venom burn came a close second. still it was hard as all hell to make a 30 card deck. I ended up using a load of chrysalis guys cos i just needed to fill out the numbers. I had 11 cards referring to e-heros or neo spacians. useless or what.

Anyway your experiences please.

Ouch, 30 card decks? We had to make 20 card decks for the flight, and open dueling for that matter. It's near impossible to make an even remotely effective 30 card deck out of 5 packs. I couldn't even make a halfway decent one with 20 cards, but at least it didn't contain the Chrysalis monsters.

With Venom Swamp ruling everything, even the Gemini Summoners were useless to use, really, unless you might've been lucky enough to pull one of the good Gemini monsters, and still then, every person's end phase, it's losing 500 ATK from the swamp, so it wasn't very handy. Perhaps it'll have a chance to shine in constructed decks, though.

We got our Gemini Summoner and it was fun. I pulled one Cthonian Emperor Dragon and one Double Summon. But my most devastating card were two Volcanic Rats with two Amulet of Ambition. It was great preview, I just hope that those Gemini monsters will see play.

My experience was fine, i got my hands on a seer. YAY! then i sold it, for thirty dollars....its a great card but i decided to cash in on the hype, i firmly belive once the pack is released, the price will go down. I traded my paralell raiza for a misprint DMOC, And got my hands on two cybers....so i had a nice day. also pulled a ult. water girl, aria i thnk, and a darkbright, and traded some old stuff for 2 zaborgs. no i guess ill can my make my monarch ddeck aggressive....but people can be co cut throat at nuetral ground. (oh sry, thats the place where the event was) and its sad how people try to rip off little kids...i mean, thats how i got my seer, but the kid really wanted my Desert Twister...

At our pre-release location, you can trade, only, if you're caught making any kind of monetary transaction for cards that isn't with the event holders, you can get thrown out. I'm sure people still do it, but just the fact that rule is there is a little annoying, and any actual cards in the card case they have are outrageously overpriced for the most part.

The trick that only so many people figured out to beating the swamps was to run every copy of "Venom Burn" you pulled, like I did. It turned out to lead me 4-0, where in the last duel my opponent tried to use it on my "Grasschopper" who was 350 ATK =P, however I chained my own copy and ran him over for game. There were quite a bit of other keys cards that won duels often though.

Venom Burn is a great defensive card for a Venom Deck, especially for your bigger, non-Venom monsters you might run in it. Your opponent thinks they're about to run over your Monarch card that has 4 counters on it? Venom Burn! 3200 burn damage to them, then your Monarch is back at 2400 for them to slam right into. That's the one plus a Venom deck has going for it, while the venom creatures are a little weak, attack wise, they have really good support cards.

From a judge's perspective....it was fun...and entertaining.

First problem as a judge, "Hey judge! What do you make of this? Counter Counter....a normal trap card that negates a counter trap?" <Me> "Ummm...errrr....HAS to be a misprint...HAS to be. I'm sure there will be an errata. Let me check with the HJ but it's my guess that we'll call it a counter trap for today. Indeed that's what we agreed to do. One of the players commented that the card is indeed a counter trap in the Japanesse game.

Second thing from a judge's starnd point, this one I anticipated and instructed the players to do, once a Gemini monster's effect has been activated, place a marker of some type on it to avoid arguments of weather it's a normal monster or effect monster. Make sure you actually USE some form of identification for the number (dice, coin, etc.) for Venom effects.

As amusement and education, it was great to see players realize how field cards and end phase effects work! I'm also always amused to see the typical regonal tournament player realize that a Sneak Preview or booster draft is the great equalizer. Suddenly it's not enough to know how to play the meta with a net deck. Now they have to know how to make the best deck possible with whatever they recieved and know how to apply game mechanics so they know how cards they've never seen before worked.

You know the look you get as a judge from a regonal player every once in a while when you don't know off the top of you head the rulings for a card in THEIR deck that they assume you SHOULD know because they do? The roles reverse when you get to a Sneak Preview and the game mechanics clearly define how a card works and they look at you dumbfounded when they try to activate a card in the damage step that says, "You can only activate this card when your opponent attacks a Venom monster"

I really enjoyed this Sneak Preview, it introduced a new concept (Gemini monsters) Taught people how to play the game better by teaching them about end phase effects and field card usage.....and I got to floor judge for a change! Rick Bessler had his first go at HJ and handled it nicely allowing me to get back on the floor which I hadn't done if far too long, it was a nice change of pace.

I will admit there were some questions with Normal Summons, Venom monsters, "Venom Swamp", chaining, etc. going on at my SP, so it was a good experience for some weaker players that aren't that deep into the games and rulings yet.

I want to say it's been the most fun SP since my first, STON. This is my third now that I've won, and it just gets better and better every time. This set made a really great Sneak Preview, I look forward to more like it.

Sneak Previews are my favorite event in Yugioh, and now I'm sad that I've played since it began, and have never gotten to start going at all (or regularly like I am now) until now. I've made a rant about this before, but for me it's the ultimate challenge: Putting together everything you have as a deckbuilder, luck puller, experience, adaptability, skill, knowledge, rulings, speed, intel, and predictability, amoung other things!

had a blast
boys pulled well - my youngest even got a ghost rainbow and in the megaflight pulled one holo in 4 of 5 packs ....and i got 5 rares.... sorta balanced out.... we each got a seer so thats cool...
the promo seemed almost useless here, it was too hard to hook up with other gemenis and on opponents end phase - only time i saw its effect in use was first turn, then opponents first turn he set and in end it was activated... however, the spell that gave an extra summon was working very well for those that had it...but the venom swamp kept things from being around for very long, the venom burn was working well for me nice lp hits and chainable when attacked - the few games i was able to get both off i usually won - but round 3 one dissappeared from my deck...previously my opponent had one of mine and was asking judge a question about it... later, when i noticed it missing, i looked where i was sitting and sure enough - a sleeve of mine on the floor, his side of table (recovered sleeve was empty)...ah well - i gotta not trust anyone i guess....esp since my 4th round opponent sat down to play and discovered his entire deck gone missing .... felt bad for him...we duled for fun with our regular decks tho' .... all in all we had a great time - as usual- my youngest raking in the holos & a t- shirt
i did notice that there seemed to be more holos pulled than @ past pre-releases.... a good thing i think...some of the more soughtafter cards were nowhere to bee seen, maybe day 2 saw more variety
i know i was looking for the hound/hunter dragon and cyberdak impact an could not find anyone who had gotten them - same for il blud
ok - still have stuff to look foreward to :D

The thing about "Gemini Summoner" that made a difference in the tourney was that it had 1500 ATK and a great effect. Many time people would run their Summoner into your Golems/Delvers/Summoners/Dawnbreak/Pyrons just to destroy your monster and get away with the "Cannot be destroyed by battle once per turn" trick.

We had alaugh at this also! I was HJ and we decided; as per usual, it was :bkss !!!

As with the Darkness Approaches thread, the card overides game mechanics and you can BKSS. Never though about it being a missprint! Come on, UDE missprint a card. :weird

We had a lot of kids and things went well. The best was in a flight where 2 experenced players chained FOUR Venom Burns! The tp placed 2 toakens, then started with the 1st VB.

I got called over as they wanted to clarify. Since the 1st sentance is select monster; that is its 'cost'; the rest is the effect so only the last actually worked! They thought it was a gas with 4 cards chained [ tp, ntp, tp, ntp ] and the tp getting the burn!

Out of my son's 2 events, his prizes and my comp, we got V the King; 3 Emp Dragons.

However, No 5th Hopes; Spell Reclamations; Common Charities; only 2 of the last 9 monster cards; Cyberdark Impact; EH Magma Neos; VK Deity; Frost/Flame; Desert Twister (I wanted this!) out of about 52 packs.

Also, we only saw 1 Rainbow and it was a miss print! It was hallow with only the edge of an image with no coloring!

Wierd!

That's not a misprint. That is a ghost rare. We saw like 20 in STL. One guy supposedly (I heard from several people but didn't see myself) pulled 5 out of 5 packs, and then walked out the door. Didn't even stay to finish his sealed tourney. Just left. I got 1 myself, and sold it for just under 60 dollars......I got ripped off. I didn't see a single cyberdark impact! though. But a fun day nonetheless.

We had a player sit down for the sealed pack flight. We handed out deck sheets with instructions that, "These are not YET your cards" She opened her packs to record what she'd recived, pulled a Ghost Rainbow Dragon, then stood up to walk out the door. We had to let her know that if she did so she would recieve a DQ-Unsporting Conduct-Severe. Even at that she was tempted.

Well was she leaving the event? I mean she could simply say "Scoop, Drop". Granted, not really fair to the guys getting byes after that but at the same time, hard to penalize someone for doing something that the rules explicitly allow.

my experience was great, i got a ghost rare rainbow dragon after only going through the line once while other people went through 3 times with no luck, given being the only person to pull it there made everyone swarm me but it was kool, my friend pulled 2 crystal seers and i plan on getting them off of him soon.

Deck sheets for a Sneak Peak Sealed Pack event? Are you guys seriously that strict up there?? It's a Sneak Peak for crying out loud. It's not like they're competing for a "Crush Card Virus" or something like that...
