.:TDK:.'s First COG Article: An Eye For an Eye

First off I would like to thank Delinquent Duo (ITTD member) and DarkFlare for really being good friends and helping me with this article as much as they did. Now...

What if while you were dueling you had the advantage of making your opponent lose the life points that you would lose? No, I'm not crazy. It is possible, and I'll show you how.

With EEN coming to us in a few months I did some researching. I have searched through the set for a card that will not only be fun to run, but also competitive. I have found that card, Hell Soldier.

Hell Soldier
Warrior
LV4
ATK/1200 DEF/1400
When this card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard as a result of your opponent's attack, do damage to your opponent's life points equal to the amount of damage to your life points from the result of that attack.

Hell Soldier is a new monster that is going to be showing his face to us when Elemental Energy comes out. This monster when attacked and destroyed deals damage to your opponent equal to the amount of lifepoints damage done to you from that attack. For example if you have a face up Hell Soldier on your side of the field and your opponent has a face up Berserk Gorilla on the Field and he/she attacks Hell Soldier then your monster will go to the card graveyard and both you and your opponent will lose 800 lifepoints of damage.

I know it has a low attack, but that's a good thing for this deck type. This deck focuses around your opponent attacking your monsters like Reflect Bounder, Amazoness Swords Woman, and Hell Soldier, and punishing them for that thanks to their special abilities. If you don't have those defensive monsters on the field, then Sacred Phoenix is in there to do our offensive destruction for us.

Another card in this deck that has the ability to do this is Amazoness Swords Woman. With these two monsters out on the field your opponent will either not want to attack knowing they will lose life points or attack and lose damage. The goal of the deck is for your opponent to choose the second option. You might also get a few turns to stall thanks to this painful combo.

Hell Soldier and Amazoness Swords Woman are indeed good cards for this deck, but the best card for this type of effect is my good buddy Reflect Bounder. Reflect Bounder is a monster that truly lives up to its name. By this I mean the word Reflect or Reflection. When your opponent's monsters attack Reflect Bounder he/she loses life points equal to your opponent's monsters attack strength. After being attacked Reflect Bounder is automatically destroyed. This monster has its benefits by doing that kind of damage. But if a monster like Sangan were to attack Bounder than your opponent would lose 1700 life points of damage (1000 for Sangans attack and 700 for the difference in attack) then your Reflect Bounder would be destroyed. It is a win-win situation for dealing lifepoint damage like that, but it can be destroyed by the weakest of monsters. When I think of Reflect Bounder I think of Magic Cylinder in monster form"¦.as for saying that lets look at Magic Cylinder and its friend Dimension Wall.

Magic Cylinder is a card we have all come to know and love ever since Labyrinth of Nightmare came to us. Now just because it was out doesn't mean we all had it since it was a secret rare. But now that it's out as a Special Edition Promo from the Invasion of Chaos SE Box, more players have an opportunity of getting this card. Magic Cylinder is an amazing card. When your opponent attacks and you activate Cylinder his/her attack is not only negated but he/she loses life point damage equal to the monster they attacked with. Now doesn't that sound familiar in a sense"¦kind of like the word Reflect pops into your head, huh?

Dimension Wall is like the wimpier version of the cards we have listed so far. It can have the ability of Swords Women, Hell Soldier, Reflect Bounder or Magic Cylinder. Now guys when I say this, I don't mean it can copy the effect, I mean it's situational usage. Dimension Wall can only be activated when your opponent attacks you. Instead of you, your opponent takes the damage you would have taken as a result of battle this turn. So if you have a monster face up, let's say Sangan, and your opponent attacks with Berserk Gorilla. You activate Dimension Wall and your monster is destroyed, but your opponent loses the difference in attack between the two monsters, 1000 attack points. The effect is very similar to Hell Soldier. If you have no monsters on the field and your opponent attacks you directly with Berserk Gorilla they would lose 2000 points of damage because that is the damage you would have lost this turn as a result of that battle step.

Now that I have explained to you the bond these cards have when defending let me move down to the more offensive and aggressive part of this deck.

Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys is a monster being played like crazy in today's meta, with its mass spell and trap removal abilities and also recursion why shouldn't it be run? Well if you are going to run Phoenix you have to bring all of his friends to join the party in my opinion. There are several ways to bring out Phoenix in this deck, but I would like to tell you the easiest and most fun way of doing so. Hand of Nephthys and Apprentice Magician are the two key cards you will need for this combo to work. Set your Apprentice Magician, let your opponent attack your Magician, and send your magician to the card Graveyard thus activating its special ability. You will then get Hand of Nephthys from your deck and summon it to the field (NOTE: If your opponent has two monsters attacking you get another magician after the first is destroyed then get hand) when your opponent ends his turn you will draw your card and will summon any monster with 4 stars and under. After doing this you activate the effect of Hand and tribute both Hand of Nephthys and the monster you just summoned so you may bring out Sacred Phoenix. Simple and destructive all at the same time.

I hope you enjoyed reading this week's article as much as I loved writing it, until next time duelists, have fun.

Have any suggestions on what to add in for the two? Maybe Night assailent for sinsiter but what for tribe?

I don't see any reasons why this shouldn't go in Netrep Artcles. Bishop if you were serious about me covering this area for the mean time I'm going to assume thats cool and move this article there. I think the community would benefit from it.
