Has anyone besides me played the new Tony Hawk's American Wasteland? It's horrible!!! The whole no loading screens thing is a crock of S#!+! The whole reason there are no loading screens is because the game pretty much freezes when it needs to load something!

The gameplay is substandard. Pretty much the same old Tony Hawk thing with few new (not too impressive) moves and the L.A. skate scene. In story mode you cannot use certain things (like special and flatland) until you learn them. In classic mode, you can do all moves from the beginning. Classic mode is like the THPS series, before underground.

The story mode is kind of cool, if some of the missions 'not loading' didn't either take forever or completely freeze the game. You build a skatepark using pieces of the city you just kind of....take. But the loading is so annoying......like I said there are no loading screens.....it just freezes momentarily. Or, between parts of town, you scate through a hallway with a closed door at the end. Yup. They probably realized after they started advertising no loading screens that the PS2 wasn't quite powerful enough to work that quickly loading each part of town, so they programmed doors into it that finally open when the part of town is loaded.

If you are an avid THPS and THUG fan, maybe you can rent the game and make sure it doesn't annoy you. If you thought the commercial made the game sound good, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! BUY CARDS INSTEAD!!!!

Blockbuster Gamepass saved me another wasted purchase......

No. But if half of what you just said was true (and I'm assuming it is) then I'll let my friend know not to get it. THanks for the heads up.

I probably should point out that yes, I was playing the PS2 version. But for those of you who have played the game, you know how there are cameras between Downtown and Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills to Downtown? Yeah, I sat in those spots waiting for the 'cameras' to stop and doors to open for some time. And (for lack of a better word to describe the sound, players know what I mean) lets say the game makes a 'woosh' sound when you successfully complete part of a mission. While loading the next part of the mission, the screen would stand still and the speakers were going...

woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh, woosh,

sorry, but this just makes my point clearer.

Dont get me wrong though, the gameplay is Tony Hawk, so it is cool once 'loaded', and the story mode story is neat too, but as for the whole "no loading screens" and big deal, nah. Not worth it.
