if i send a dark world monster to the graveyard to use the effect of the creator, does the dark world monster get special summoned this way?

Sadly not, even thought the discard is not a cost, the text of The Creator mentions that it Sends the card to the graveyard, and for DW monsters to get their effect they must be discarded.

You answered your own question and didnt know it.

The Creator "sends" a monster to the Graveyard. Dark World Monsters (where this effect applies) must be DISCARDED to the Graveyard by an effect that is not a Cost. The Creator is not a "Discard" when the monster is "sent" to the Graveyard. It is also not a Cost, but that doesnt matter anyway.

For the million, billionth time that this has probably been asked, "SEND" does not equal "DISCARD".

There is no discard, period. That is only going to confuse people by calling it a Discard that "isnt".

There's no discard in the example mentioned in the first post, but that's not what DH2K4 was saying. He's saying Dark World monsters must be discarded for their effect to work (and not as a cost).

As always, SEND does not equal DISCARD.

Maybe you didnt see the "Sadly not, even though, the discard is not a cost...."

I'm sure it was a case of not really thinking about what he was saying, but when you don't correct it, what does the next person see it as?

A card cast off is a "discard," nothing wrong about it.

Discard ( and forms of it) in game mechanics is always used as a verb or adjective.

A card discarded in game mechanics is refered to as the "discarded ('card' or type of) (or 'card' discarded for super juvenation)

Calling the card sent from The Creator a "discard" doesn't conflict with any game mechanics.

It does when you have to keep explaining to people that you meant something else.

But, I'll keep calling it a Discard since that is okay now.

"No, sorry, the card you discarded to the Graveyard was technically not a "discard" according to Konami. However, it is still grammatically a discard, so even though it is a Discard, you wont get the effect because it isnt a Game Mechanic Discard."

On second thought, it's just easier to stop trying to make everything a English Lesson, and stick to what you can find in the Rulings. When Komani puts a Dictionary, Thesarus, and Glossary of Terms as they relate to everyday spoken English, then we can use that to confuse players on a daily basis, "legitimately".

The old addage is to "work smarter, not harder".

Slippery Slope.

I can do that too:

Maybe we can't use the term "send to the graveyard" anymore because a discards usually sends to the graveyard, so if we say send to the graveyard they'll think we mean discard.

That is why, when all is said and done, it is just better, although more work to memorize, to simply use the terms on the cards. DH2K4 just accidently used "discard" when he meant "sent". Clarification thereafter has been established. We shall endevor to be more careful in the future. Thank you, and goodnight.
