Due to nature of this thing that is vBulletin and the way addons work, when we eventually do upgrade we're going to have a completely different point system.

At this point, I'm not 100% sure your existing bank accounts totals will transfer. I'd say I'm 90% sure they will, but with the uncertainty of database transfers, it's entirely possible the data could be lost.

With that said, this poll is making the presumption all our points can transfer over hunky dory and giving you a choice in the matter. Transfer the points, or start fresh?

Unlike the last poll I started, this is a definitive poll. Meaning, I'm going to go with whatever the majority prefers.

It all depends on the nature of the item. Things like custom avatars and custom user titles should change over because, if I'm not mistaken, they're part of the database. But things like colored usernames I'm not sure of because I'm not sure where that data is stored. I'm still learning the technical details of how that works, but I'll be sure to let everyone know when I do.
 
People responding to this poll will be biased in their response. Newer members with fewer points will vote that it is reset and that all users start new. Members with millions in the bank (and nothing to do but donate points) might not care, or might want to keep those incase they decide to customize their name, avatar, or something else. But one thing is almost certian: those with low or no points will vote that it all starts from scratch.

Well, that's a given. The main purpose of the poll is to see who's in the majority. No sense in dissapointing the masses. Though I'm inclined to think that some will vote on the basis that the current point system is somewhat out of control. It's nice to start fresh.
 
True, but I don't mind donating some of my 15 trillion points to whomever asks. I've got no use for them, and I'm pretty sure with that amount I could afford anything new the Store will offer in future, many times over. And it makes me look nice and generous.
 
i would love to have some points donated to me ^-^ (NVM, looks like i was given some already...wow.....thats a big number...Thx for the points) is there any way i can tell who gave them to me? (a thank you is in order)
 
It wasn't me, at least. And I don't know how to see who's donated to whom recently.
 
How about a 3rd option. Start all from zero and recalculate points based on OCG contribution. For example, brilliant minds like yours can, I'm sure, set a formula to take the current "post" number and run it through a predetermined multiplier. Then add bonuses for MODs and whatever else is easily trackable that you have previously given points for (like, say, Starting a thread = X points... but that one might be too labor intensive, unless you can write a code for it). That way, those of you who have long been contributing to COG are not slighted. JMHO

Heh, well, I didn't realize at the time I made this thread, but it looks like my apparent brilliance didn't notice that the new points mod recalculates everyone's points based on thread/post count upon installation (depending on the settings). LOL Oh well, I really need to eat and have my coffee before trying to do these things. :cup

But all is not lost yet. The developer of the mod is willing to create transfers for all the old point mods as long as someone requests it. He's already done three or four of them, and I may have just overlooked ours. So maybe there's a compromise somewhere in here.

Not fully true. I only have earned a total of about 1000 points and so I consider myself newer but I voted to keep it as it is since the older members should always get the respect they deserve. :D

EDIT : D'oh! Who gave me all those points!?!?!?! I IS CONFUSED!
