The Little Swordsman of Aile
Effect Monster (Warrior / WATER / 3 Stars / ATK 800 / DEF 1300)

Tribute 1 monster on your side of the field to increase this monster's ATK by 700 points until the end of this turn.
Now Ive got a question, can you tribute itself for its effect (lets say you want to use the effect of Last Will by tributing Aile via his own effect)

A rather unusual twist here, but I would say that the answer would be no since you would need an additional monster on the field to tribute as a cost for Swordsmans effect.

Of course, if you managed to have 2 of them on the field, then you could tribute one to increase the other, but I dont think you could tribute your only monster to increase its own attack.

I think it may be close to the ruling on Exiled Force where you can't tribute him as a cost to destroy a monster, if he is the only monster on either players side of the field.

can you ONLY tribute one monster to boost him though?? I mean, what if you have him out, and flip scapegoats, can you tribute all of the scapegoats to boost him by 2800???

There is a difference...when you activate Exiled Force, you have to designate a monster to destroy, and since EF is no longer on the field (due to the cost) you can't select it. If you don't need to select a monster that would be affected by the effect, or if the card says you can't tribute it for it's own effect (like Ultimate Baseball Kid) I think the effect would go through.

You can Tribute all the goats and boost it's attack, just like cannon soldier or amazones archer

You can tribute The Little Swordsman of Aile for it's own effect, it's just will resolve without the increase being applied to itself since it's already in the graveyard.

The effect doesn't target, it's just an effect, so you can tribute it for reasons if you'd wish to activate cards like Last Will.

Of course... the Tribute is as cost, so the effect will dissapear, if it Tributes itself.
