Hello fellow Yugioh fanatics. Over the summer I kind of slacked off on my Yugioh because I had something more important to do. Now that she went back to college, I have started playing again weekly. One problem I have run into though is that at the store where I go locally because I have not been there in so long, noone wants to believe I still know what I am talking about when they ask for a ruling. What is worse, is that now, because he sounds confident in the way he gives the incorrect rulings, they are listening to a LV0 (yeah he flunked the LV1 2 times).........

I really only care because it is such a hassle when someone thinks they can do these things that, and I think this is the reason, he rules that way so HE can get away with it within his own games....darn cheaters. I have to explain for 10 minutes why you can or cannot do something all over again, and then they still believe him. Prime recent example: Things this kid has said about Chimeratech Overdragon (claiming immediately after that when he cracked up this strategy he had the card in front of his face......)

*After it is summoned by future fusion or overload fusion, if it dies, you can bring it back via premature/call
*Cyber Dragon + Jinzo + Cannon Soldier = a 5900/4600 chimeratech dragon.

These two statements are completely wrong. What I am getting at though is I know when I am in doubt I admit it, so what should I do so I don't have to argue for half my match just to explain a stupid ruling?

Print the rulings out. Yeah, I know there a LOT of them, but that's probably going to be the only way. That's one of the good things about RONIN, you can print the rulings along with the correct card text for each card.

Congratulations.

Show them the rulings for Dark Necrofear and Berserk Dragon, regarding special summon only versus nomi.

As for the second one, I don't know. Sounds like they're just being ignorant.

:edit Darn you. Tie one of your hands behind your back so I can get a chance to answer a question.

It sounds as though you may be dealing with a person who has a lack of confidence. To keep thing on an even keel and promote a good store atmosphere, if the person in question is judging, take them aside afterwards and show them the printed ruling or if you have access to the web show him the ruling on the FAQ. In this way you won't embarrass him in front of his peers, he'll know the correct ruling, and hopefully in the future remember it, along the way you've helped him to become a better judge....and hopefully he's mature enough to appreciate that. If not, he doesn't have a place judging.

Already the person doesnt sound as if they are willing to accept being wrong. It's one thing to try to save face when you think you might lose respect, but its human nature to want to be absolutely sure that you were right when someone says your wrong, and if it were me, I would have beat feet to my computer at home, and looked up whatever ruling was being challenged and see if I was right.

In the case of being wrong, it sounds as if he is only trying to discredit anyone who challenges his standing, because if you have the same person consistantly proving you wrong, you either accept that they might know a little bit more than you do, and lend a ear to what they have to say, or, you make them out to be a Demon so no one will trust them. That's what he's doing. It's a control issue. He has power, and doesnt want to share it, even at the risk of bad calls.

And another thing... Dont you know that you're supposed to brief your significant other that she comes in a close second to Fantasy Sports, Yugioh, and anything else that has a season???!!! j/k :D

I take it these are unsanctioned tournaments? I'd assume so as it's an unsanctioned judge heading up the show. Perhaps it's time you spoke with the store owner and helped him to become a T.O. or better yet offer to be the T.O. yourself. In that manner you'll have control over who judges and you can see to it that things are getting done correctly.....and there will be no arguement....disagreement perhaps...but no debate.

Often times it takes someone willing to devote time and effort to fix such a situation, not just someone who wishes to play but show those who are devoting time the rules, granted, it shouldn't matter if you're playing or judging, a desire to know the correct ruling should be constant and sought out, however, those in "power" are the most influential most often.

What I was trying to point out is this person, most likely due to a lack of confidence and trying to overcompensate for what he feels he is lacking in, makes up stories about many things, not realizing he left something wide open in the story.

Here is an example using a movie. Those of you who have seen Final Destination 3 know what happens in the rollercoaster ride premonition. I'm referring to the video camera. That guy gets off the coaster and yet, without new explianation, the coaster derails just the same.........a hole so big you could jump through it.

For what he was saying about chimeratech is he assumed without seeing it it worked similar to UFOroid fighter, except for you could use any number of machines, making it a beefcake.

It isn't really that that gets me either, it's that this kid is one of my friends and makes up these facetious stories that you would have to be a moron to believe, or just humor the person. After several years of humoring, I'm tired of it. I want to try and break him of the habit. I try telling him that we are his friend because of who he is WITHOUT the stories, and they just aggrevate us. So I do agree it is a power struggle. But also, and more importantly in this aspect, everyone at our shop thinks he kept up over the summer while I didn't pay attention at all. The only thing YUGIOH I did was Gencon. Actually like 1 tourney a month....no wait none in July at all. But I still got my emails from judge@ude.com. I still talked about cards to people. I wasn't completely gone, just didn't care as much. So now, at the next regionals, everyone from Dizzy can build their decks around strategies that don't work because the card doesn't do what they thought it did. One thing that bothered me most is someone was playing and used rush recklessly, and even called it out in damage step (asking if the opponent were going to do anything first, naturally), and in response the opponent wanted to use mirror force at that point. I said no, he said yes why not, and they believed him. Not my fault though right?

And for those small comments........nothing was a close second to her but I figured since she's 8 hours away gotta do something right? Besides, the stupid (*****) decided long distance doesn't work. Translation: I found someone new at school. Go ahead. Fill in with your favorite expletive. She fits the description of them all.

OK I know that seems harsh but now I'm referring to 2 people who lied to me constantly on one thread....no not even just one thread....ONE POST!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

actually i was preaty certain that if you fusioned summoned with Future Fusion it was considered properly fusioned summoned. Unless the card has it cant be special summoned except by fusion summon then its preaty much set on the card. :)

he is right and wrong at the same time. He is reading future fusion not chiameratec if the case is that chameratec can only be special summoned through fusion summon.

and cyber dragon + jinzo = 4500 + 1400 from canon soldier = 5900... this is possible becuase of its cyber dragon + 1 or more machine type monsters.

if you Future Fusion that is how you get the OTK.

Play it and then fusion sumon Chimeratec with a deck packed with machines.

Chimeratech Overdragon can be summoned by other than Future Fusion. Future Fusion is just what makes Chimeratech Overdragon somewhat broken since you can fetch just about every machine in your deck.

However, if Chimeratech Overdragon is brought to the field by Future Fusion's effect, the Chimeratech Overdragon will send Future Fusion to the Graveyard, which in turn will send Chimeratech Overdragon to the Graveyard.

The REAL combo here is to use Overload Fusion after Future Fusion...

And btw... where's the 4500 coming from with Cyber Dragon + Jinzo? Not unless you're attacking with both seperately. Chimeratech Overdragon's ATK is 800 / Machine monster used in the fusion regardless of the Machine. The card really isn't that good on its own. It's just Future Fusion that makes it broken in this way.

This is the common misconception people I know have come to......but really
