Tsukuyomi Versus Ectoplasmer

Tsukuyomi:

This card cannot be special summoned. This card returns to it's owner's hand at the end phase of the turn that it was normal summoned, flipped summoned or flipped face up. When this card is normal summoned, flipped summoned or flipped face up, flip 1 face up monster on the field into face down defense position

Ectoplasmer:

Only once during each player's end phase, the turn player tributes one face-up monster on his/her side of the field and inflicts damage to the opponent's life points equal to half the original ATK of the tributed monster

Since both instances occur on the end phase, which would happen first? Would Tsukuyomi be able to use its own effect first or would Ectoplasmer take priority since it's a continuous spell card? Or would the turn player just be able to chose which effect they wanted to resolve first?

The turn player cant decide resolution in this situation....  If Tsukuyomi is the only face-up monster on the field, it must turn its effect on itself when summoned, flipping it face-down.  A face-down monster cannot be selected for Ectoplasmer's effect, and Tsukuyomi would not return to hand at End Phase.

If the effect was used on another legal target, then the turn player could choose which effect to resolve first.

Can anyone clarify that more? Does it mean that Tsukuyomi MUST be tributed for the cost of Ectoplasmer if there are no other monster on your field(face-up).

If Tsukuyomi is face-up (having already used the effect to flip a card face-down) at the End Phase of the turn, the turn player can decide which card effect to resolve first even if Ectoplasmer is not under his control.

The controller of Tsukuyomi can decide to return Tsukuyomi to hand, thus evading Ectoplasmer's effect, or, he can leave Tsukuyomi on the field and tribute the face-up Tsukuyomi at the End Phase of turn, to inflict 550 damage to his opponent.

In any event, the turn player may select which of the two effects will be activated first.

That's what I had in mind all the while too. But you type "cant" in your 1st line 4th word. Then, the 2nd Para, you said something different. Hence, confusing me.

I just meant for the situation of a summoned Tsukuyomi and no other face-up monsters on the field.  Tsukuyomi's effect is mandatory and if she is the only legal target, she must target herself for the effect of flipping a monster face-down.
