Vampire Lord and Recursion Effect

NINJA4LIFE
Okay. I recently saw this posted on the Judges List:

What if both of my Vampire Lords are sent to the graveyard by my opponent's card effect? Can I Special Summon both of them during my next Standby Phase, or do I only get back one?

Answer:

You would Special Summon both of your "Vampire Lords" during your next
Standby Phase.

And then a later question:

then can the opponent get rid of both with 1 Bottomless Trap Hole?

- Strider

Answer:

They cannot.

I guess I am not catching it, but why cant both Vampire Lords be destroyed by Bottomless Trap Hole? Isn't this the same as if "Cyber Jar" was activated by flip summon and Bottomless Trap Hole is activated?

Now that Vampire Lord is Semi-Restricted, this scenario could very well happen quite frequently and a good reason why you cannot activate BTH can always come in handy!

Maybe its because you can only get one, since they both are being special summoned by their own effect and not simultaneously....

I think it is because a flipped Cyber Jar summons all the monsters at once, but the two VLords resolve in a chain. BTH would miss the timing on the first VLord but could get the second. That's how I see it, anyway.

They don't even chain, they are just two effects that just need it to be the standby phase after they're destroyed to work. You activate one, summon it, and then you choose to activate the other, and summon that.

Manta is correct.

[Chain Link 1] Vampire Lord #1

resolve...

[Chain Link 1] Vampire Lord #1 is Special Summoned

{Responce Chain} (in response to V-Lord #1)
* you can activate BTH here

Rince, wipe and repeat for V-Lord #2

You either respond to the first one, or respond to the second one, but not both at the same time. They are not simultanious Special Summons.

That's what I thought, I just wanted to make sure. It's easy enough to think that because they were destroyed at the same time, that they would return at the same time, but as long as you don't leave your Standby Phase, you could for instance:

Player A
Resolve effect of Vampire Lord #1 and return him to the field.

Resolve maintenance of Imperial Order (if applicable).

Resolve maintenance of Messenger of Peace (if applicable).

Resolve effect of Vampire Lord #2 and return him to the field.

In that case, several things can happen in between actually Special Summoning the 2 V. Lords to the field, and by that time, the timing would be incorrect for Bottomless Trap Hole to destroy both of them.

Actually no,

There is always response timing after every event, as long as you have a Spell Speed 2 that can be legally activated you can respond with it.

Maintenance costs cannot be responded to.

Even after a Special Summon such as V-Lord in the Standby Phase, both players have to pass on a response before the next item/effect/cost or what-have-you can be resolved.

What I meant was, I can summon the first V. Lord in attack position, the opponent does not respond.

I pay maintenance of Messenger of Peace. My opponent activates Enemy Controller on the first V. Lord, I dont respond, so that chain is resolved.

I activate Zero Gravity to place V. Lord #1 back in attack position. My opponent does not respond.

I summon the second V. Lord back to the field, my opponent responds with Bottomless Trap Hole, I do not respond, he then chains it with Thunder of Ruler, and again, I do not respond. Chain resolves and he is unable to destroy both V. Lords.
