I know, the ultra rare and the best hype/card thing is Satillite Cannon. But what OTHER cards are there. I mean, what chances did we had of getting Magical Arm Shield on our last TP pack huh? (Good thing it's coming out as common on the Dinosaur structure decks)

Just wondering what I "should" expect on these packs. I hope it's not all "normal monsters" like the other TP packs. And are we getting more then just 3 cards this time?

the only info i've heard was from the e-mail they sent to the judges and if u guys haven't seen it yet i still have it

Kevin Tewart <kevin_tewart@upperdeck.com> to me

Dear Judges,

Some of you may have heard about the upcoming Champion Packs. I want all of you to have the info in this email, because a lot of you judge tournaments at stores where Tournament Packs are currently given away as prizes, so this will affect you.

We've been talking to a lot of judges, players, and stores about what they'd like to see regarding tournament prizes. The Champion Packs are the result. Most people said they wanted tournament-level cards to ramp up their tourney decks. They also wanted foil variants of some of the most popular cards that have never been available as a foil. (And of course if we sprinkle in a few new cards, that makes everyone happy.)

The Champion Packs will be coming out later this year. The cards in the Champion Pack were pulled from some of the top decks we've seen at tournaments lately. This includes foil (Super-Rare) versions of some popular cards like Book of Moon and Night Assailant. The first Champion Pack also includes a brand new ultra-rare card: Satellite Cannon.

Each Champion Pack has 1 rare card (or super-rare, or ultra-rare). You won't see any "all common" packs. Also, the rarity on the Champion Packs is very user-friendly. A Champion Pack ultra-rare is more than twice as easy to get as an old Tournament Pack ultra-rare.

The Tournament Packs are being retired after TP8. The Champion Packs are just better. But like the Tournament Packs, they're intended for use as prizes exclusive to tournament stores.

Finally, despite an ugly rumor you might have heard, the Champion Packs are NOT just for the U.S.A. They'll be available everywhere just like our other products.

According to the pages of the November Shonen Jump, Satellite Cannon, Book of Moon, Night Assailant, and Metamorphosis will be released as holos - Satellite Cannon being an Ultra Rare, the rest Super Rare. Those are what they mentioned, but that's not to say that's all that will be holo.

Sadly, they do mention that there will be 3 cards per pack.

Satellite Cannon
Effect Monster (Machine / LIGHT / 5 Stars / ATK 0 / DEF 0)
This monster cannot by destroyed by battle by Level 7 or lower monsters. (Damage calculation is applied normally.) This card gains 1000 ATK during each of your End Phases. After this monster attacks, the ATK of this card becomes 0.

The wording is paraphrased from a translation.

Hmmm..... could be a good early Angel target if you got some other stalls to let it build. (aka swords, T.Roar, waboku, etc.)

Thanks, Maruno. Are you the one assigned to follow me around and answer my questions today. :D

Definately looks like it needs a deck of it's own. No splashing allowed.

Angel needed some more monsters to search anyway.

Oh, that's easy. (NOTE, not exactly correct translation but, it's what it does though.)

Satillite Cannon

Light / Machine / level 5

ATK 0/ DEF 0

This card cannot be destroyed as a result of battle against monsters that's level 7 or lower. At your end phase when this card is face-up, this card gains 1000ATK. When this card attacks, after damage calculations, this card's ATK goes back to 0.

----

Basically, play it, and sit for a couple of turns, (Nobody plays a level 8 or higher monster unless it was steined.) and then use Limiter Removal, Megamorph, etc. for the OTK. And it's searchable by Shining Angel, Last Will, Damage Condenser, etc.

Coincidence, I'm sure.

I'm thinking Spirit Barrier here, majorly so. How often do people use 8 Star or higher monsters?

Already said that :D

What I don't understand is why Champion packs can't be released to the general public. I understand it's a tournament thing, but still, if your hobby store only awards one pack per winner per week, it would take nigh infinite weeks to get all the cards you want, wouldn't it? Not that I'm complaining, I'm happy that they're releasing some good cards, but still, I don't feel as though they're making it as easy as it could be for collectors and players alike to get them. Not everyone can go to a tournament each saturday, and not everyone can come up first place each time.

So, do you suppose that they would even consider releasing some of the new cards as part of a Shonen Jump release, or do you think they'll be part of a set of collector's tins at some point or another?

I don't think they will be won soley at Tourneys.

If he is comparing them to TP's and they are supposed to be used in the same way, then I don't see any reason they won't show up at Wally World like the TPs did. Of course, what do I know. :rolleyes
