What's Up With All the Recalls?

I don't know if our International users are aware of it or not, but the US has been bombarded lately, with a string of recalls.

Recalls, in of themselves, are not unusual. Periodically a product, usually a food or a child's toy, has to be recalled and peoples money refunded because something harmful was discovered in it. But I used to only see rascals once, maybe three times a year, of any significance.

But lately, it seems that the recalls are coming left and right. It all started a few months ago, maybe a year ago, when bags of salad, and specifically, spinach, was recalled because of deadly bacteria that had been growing in it. Then, Peter Pan Peanut Butter followed. It had salmonella. (And I had already eaten some from the supposed bad batch.)

That would have appeared to have been the end of it. But then came the big stink with all those people's pets dying from tainted dog food (still not sure if that's why my dog suddenly passed away). And then the even bigger stink when all those Fisher Price and other products out of China were recalled for danger of lead paint poisoning. That affected us more then anything, as ALL of the plastic bibs we had bought our daughter were from the tainted supply. We got our refund from Baby's 'R Us and are still awaiting the test results from her lead screening.

Withing the last 24 hours, I've heard of at least three different products being recalled, again for lead paint and salmonella poisoning. And it's really got to make you wonder, what the heck is going on? Did the whole world just become careless all of sudden, or are we just noticing now? And if it's the latter, then you got to wonder, what sicknesses could be directly responsible for our ignorance.?

Well, make that 4 in the last 24 hours. They just recalled some Boy Scout Merit Badges made in China. More lead paint. And I just had to check my daughter's Baby Einstein Blocks to make sure they weren't part of yet another lead paint related recall.
