Okay, first let me say that I NEVER trade packs for cards. Mainly because if the pack I trade has nothing in it, I feel bad for them. If it has something really, really good in it, I feel bad for me.

Well, I broke that rule at Reginals (I was tired and he had a card I needed so...) I traded a couple of my POTD packs for a nice (not awesome) card. I explained that I was all about fair, and would not leave him with a bad trade. He opened and pulled an Ultimate Tyranno. Well, in one of the other packs, he got what he was looking for, so he did what I would've done if it were me, either boost my end of the trade to match, or give it back. He gave it back. Great sport! I will trust him in a trade deal any day!!

I should have learned my lesson there. Instead, another guy, who witnessed that trade kept hounding me... all the way out the door as the arena was closing. I gave in. BIG mistake. Just to get him off my back I let him pick two for a Shinato (a Shinato!!!). First pack, an Ultimate Rare Alien Mother (or Warrior), more than a good compensation for a Shinato, don't you think? The second pack....yes, you guessed, Chimeratech Overdragon! I was aghast. He just turned quickly and walked away. I was stunned silent. The first guy called out, "Hey get back here, you know that isn't right, man." He wanted to jump the guy. I must admit, it was the closest this Christian man has come to cussing. (As a side note, the packs I opened at home had zip in them-an Ultimate Rare Spell Caller).

If I had pulled it, I would have said, No way. Not right. And either let him grab some other cards in trade, or, with tears in my eyes, give it back for a different pack! Personally, I try to keep trades as fair as possible. When someone wanted to trade a good card for my beat-up card he needed, I resisted, finally gave in, BUT, when I found that card in better quality, I bought it for him... make it fair. For another, I later gave a few cards he needed (that's for helping me out with that one card last week, man). That's the Skey tought me how to trade...fairly.

Now, I'm looking for some consolation for my momentary lapse into stupidity and violating one of my cardinal rules of trading.

I want to know:

1. What is your stupidest (most regretable) Yugioh! trade?
2. What would you do if you were the one who pulled Chimeratech?

Stupidest trade I ever made was with Jathro. [Stop] I AM NOT SAYING JATHRO IS A RIP-OFF ARTIST [Continue] The trade seemed good to me at the time. I don't remember the specifics. I only remember I didn't need my Airknight Parshath (Ultra) or Don Zaloog (Ultra) back then and thought I was getting something more worthwhile. I was. Then. But it was like a week later I suddenly decided to take my deck in a whole new direction. But I learned my lesson. Now I don't trade high-value cards that I don't have at least three of. Period. I'm just not willing to risk that I might change my mind.

Keep it, of course.

I don't trade with people under the age of thirteen without their parents' consent, and never with anyone under the age of seven. I don't make trades involving cash with anyone under thirteen unless their parents are present at the time. I don't hound people endlessly or lie to them about the value of a card. With those restrictions stringently adhered to, I have no remorse after ripping someone off. It was their decision.
 
I feel your pain dude.

I traded by Secret rare Yata-Garasu (my favorite card) to a friend who needed it for some cards I needed for my deck at the time. I have since decided to go back to my favorite deck-type (Fiends) and wish I still had my Yata. I know I couldn't use it, and wouldn't, but I don't need the cards I got for it as much anymore.

As for the Chimeratech Over dragon, it's been a while since I bought card or studied the meta, so I'll have to look this one up, but if memory serves, it's a machine. And it probably requires at least one card I don't have. It sounds like it's pretty popular right now, so I'd either try to trade some more cards for it, knowing my friend michael would probably give me a ridiculously good, lopsided deal for some cards I really need (he has copies of so many uber-rares and holos it's not funny. He shares cards with another guy) in exchange for it later. I wouldn't hound the guy, but I would try to at least try to find a good offer for both of us first. If not, he get's it back.

I'm a christian too, and giving it back IS the right thing to do.

(WHY IS IT EVERYTIME I POST, IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE GETS IN A POST BEFORE I GET DONE? WHY AM I WRITING IN ALL CAPS?)
 
Just FYI, Chimeratech was being sold by a dealer there for $90.00. It's very popular now.

"Cyber Dragon" + 1 or more Machine-Type monsters
This monster cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon. When this card is Fusion Summoned, send all the cards on your side of the field to the Graveyard except this card. The original ATK and DEF of this card become the number of Fusion Material Monsters you used for the Fusion Summon of this card x 800 points. This card can attack as many of your opponent's monsters each turn as the number of Fusion Material Monsters you used for the Fusion Summon of this card.




Future Fusion + Overload Fusion = Mega-Death!!
 
1) I traded a D.D. Assailant (before it was popular) to a friend to complete my Mystic Swordsman Set (ULT rares). Not a bad trade that week. The next week D.D. Assailant was worth like 3x as much. And it was the only one I had. I was like F***.

2) You would have never known I got a Chimeratech. I would have waited till later to open the packs and wouldn't have thought twice about "Oh, when I see this guy at the next regionals in 2-3 months, I'll tell him about it and ask him which card he wants from my binder". I don't open packs out places because of the trade hungry public. I get annoyed when I pull a card I wanted and 6 people are like "OOOH, WILL YOU TRADE FOR THAT?" NO, I WANT IT!! GET AWAY!!! Leave me alone! Besides the fact I won't trade for closed packs. Too much chance of drama...........oh wait, that is what this entire thread is about!!!

So what I'm trying to say is you would have never known that I pulled a Chimeratech, and I might not have even remembered that I got those packs from you. But I do have to agree here, what that guy did is wrong. He could have in the least said something to you and maybe offered you an extra card or something, or even just a "sorry dude, but.....thanks!". But just walking away without even saying anything is rude. Maybe fate will come into play and his deck will get stolen or (and this happened to a friend of mine) he will leave his deckbox in the oversized pockets of his Jncos and throw it in the wash. Then it would be worth close to nothing, and the trade would be in your favor at that point (lol)!!! j/k

EDIT: Let me add this: When you trade a card to a shop for unopened packs and pull crap, do you ask them for another chance? When you pull something bling bling, do you offer them to keep it so you can get another try at a more fair card for the one you traded them? It's kind of the same thing. But like I said, it was rude to just walk away. And I guess the hounding you about doing it changes things too. No means no. You should have screamed rape. j/k
 
Well, all I can say is this.....There are two sides to the issue...

1. You made the trade. Cards for packs, and honestly completely unknown packs. Not weighed, scaled, bent, tested anything packs. So you should have known the 'risks' involved with making such a trade. Expecting the other person to give you back the card/pack just becuase it had a higher valued card in it is NOT FAIR in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Neither is asking that person to add more cards to the trade after the fact. Agreeing to the trade is agreeing to whatever consequences come from making that trade.

2. If the other person was a truly honest person, then they 'should' have said something about the 'fairness' of the trade after pulling the higher value card(s). If it were me, then I would most certainly offer to add more cards to the trade to help even it out, no matter what. But that's just me.

The problem is that 'most' people have the attitude to support #1 when it comes to trading. If you're 'dumb enough' to make the trade, then you deserve what happens as a result.

It is not necessary or valid to equate the word "honest" with "kind". I have always been 100% honest in every trade I've ever made. I've never lied when trading, nor have I even attempted to conceal the truth. The fact that I'm rather cold-blooded doesn't make me a liar. I have morals, even if I don't have sympathy.

If a mature, intelligent person wants to make a trade that benefits me more than them, I'm willing. Maybe that makes me "bad" in some people's opinions, but it sure as heck doesn't make me dishonest.
 
I always try to be honsest with my trades, and I don't think I've ever really been ripped too badly. (I've made so many trades I've lost count).

My worst experiences with that have been online trading (lost an Ultra Elemental Hero Thunder Giant back when it first came out), but I've also had a lot of good experiences there.

I think I once traded a couple Supers or something like that for a pair of Brain Jackers though. Ah well.

One of my best was an Imperial Order, Painful Choice, Raigeki (I think), and some other common banned card for a 1/e Cyber Dragon. The guys were collecting banned cards so it didn't matter - they wanted them, so it was fair.

Agreed. I was disappointed and mad (completely at myself for breaking my rule-- costly lesson), but I would never even have suggested to him that he give me something else (it was nice the other guy did), because it is not my right (plus I was still in uniform). I was shocked that he just left, but maybe he was afraid that I would've demanded something of him, but I didn't get that impression (not a mindreader, though, so....). This was my bad entirely!!

I guess this is where I differ. I try to make good trades for others, and hope they would do the same for me. If they want to make a bad trade, fine by me, but I'll try to throw in an extra card or two just for the heck of it. I've also bought the guy a soda when he wouldn't take the cards (And had acknowledged it was a slightly lopsided trade).

The way I see it, honest and fair are different, but equally important. I try my best to do both. Besides, in my experience, it can lead to a lot of fun. With the guys, you wind up friends and playing all sorts of stupid games with your cards, and with the girls, well I don't really need to explain that one :D

And to Skey23 and DarkLogicianof Chaos, I applaud you for your values.

(again someone posts while I'm typing. I think that labor day weekend slowed my brain to much. sigh. anyone know any good ways to type faster)
 
I have a good one. It wasnt a bad trade nor a good one.

at the time D.D. Assailant hadnt hit the meta and nobody wanted it. and I not really caring much for the game asked my good friend Adrian if he would trade 1 of his 4 lightning vortex for the D.D. Assialant.

Guess what... he said, "Nope i dont what it its crappy and nobody uses it.." i told him, "But adrian this thing will get popular and will cost bank, Lightning Vortex will go down and eventually wont be used... you are getting the better deal" so he said, "hell nah lightning vortex will cost more than that" i said, "Fine then"

I turn around and find that fool Steven adair and he says "would you trade it for the vortex" I said, "sure i dont care" so we traded.

1 week passes and adrian comes back asking for the assailant, "sorry bro its not around and its worth 35 now btw."

he was like, "I know... :("

conclusion... I didnt do a bad trade it was just too good for anybody to not want it. so yea i got ripped for a LV but what ever i dont play yugi no more.

so far in magic i havent gotten ripped off but man... some people ask for some outragous trades. 15 commons for a really hot rare. im like no way..
 
I feel for you DLOC, the guy saw an opportunity to gamble for bigger stakes (recognizing you were willing to trade unopened packs for cards) and hounded you until he got the chance. True he may have been sorry if there had been nothing in the packs but you were really the one taking the risk as he knew what he was giving up.

I almost never trade cards, I buy a lot of cards though and can tell you I have a philosophy that has served me well and might make you feel a little better about the situation. I've been offered a lot of cards for unbelievably great deals. I will pay them what is fair market or a bit more on every occassion for the cards (even if they are asking for much less). The reason is that word spreads that you are "the" person to sell cards to and thus it is much easier for me to get the very rare cards as the seller looks for me when he gets it.

The guy that took advantage of you has certainly burned a bridge in future trades with you as well as the other guy you were with. Most likely word has already spread about his treachery to more people. He profited once and will now be much less likely to be seen as a "fair trader" by many. In the long run he'll have cost himself by the future trades he misses out on.
 
Bottomline, never trade cards for Packs. I used to see that practice being done with Tournament Packs, especially with the ones that had Morphing Jar and Royal Decree.

Your chances of getting a really great card are slim to none, as well as if you do get a good card, you beat the odds.

I am of the mind that if I really want a card, I will go overboard with a Trade, but its upfront, and not like a ebay "mystery grabbag auction" where you can get 1 of 4 cards

Honestly, which one does anyone think they are going to get if the Auction is being held by the same person more than 4 times on ebay??

When you want a card, you tend to sometimes be more than fair with the trade. An "honest" person will either compensate for a higher value card by maybe giving a few nice commons, or, will decline the trade if they do not feel if it is in neither traders best interest.

that's just my point of view, but I would never do a pack trade. I would never want to see my heart sink to my feet if the card they get is something that I really wanted for myself!!!

1. I traded my Cyber Dragon for an Ultra Summoned Skull.
I only had a Super Summoned Skull at that stage & wanted to side-deck the ultra (*loves Summoned Skull as much as Dark Necrofear). I dislike Cyber Dragons because of their cheap "cookieness" but the regrettable part was, it took this jerk 3 months to post it.
I also traded a my 2X Smashing Ground for a Reverse Holo Sangan when it first came out (thought Fissures would suffice, how wrong I was) *just goes to show you how passionate I am about both Fiends & "blingage" :headbang
My most regrettable trade was when I was more of a newb than I am now..I traded my Ring of Destruction for a Tinzo *after ROD got banned & I thought "what use is it now?" (I didn't know at that stage that cards "came off the ban list")
*I'm still kicking myself over that one. I have about 4 decks that could use ROD atm & not one of them could use a Jinzo.

2. I'd trade it for a Ring of Destruction. :eek:ldrfac
