STON was also a very GOOD pack as well IMO.
However, STON cards, at least the ones we see ALOT of play, were all common, or rares.
Cards we see
Pulling the Rug, Rare
Advanced Ritual Art, Common
N-Space Grand Mole, Rare
D.D. Crow, Rare
Twister, Rare
----
I mean, the cards that's expensive that's actually being used are
Card Trader, Super Rare. Only used by some Gadget decks in tournaments
Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, Secret Rare. Only see it in Six Samurai deck.
Great Shogun Shien, Super Rare. Only see it in SOME Six Samurai decks.
And that's about it. I mean, there's a couple others, like Dark World Dealing, Skyscraper 2, etc. but you don't see those decks in tournaments at all. (E-hero is still weak, and Dark World is taking a HUGE break at the moment)
---------
Overall, although there were ALOT of good cards, they all ended up being Common/Rare for us and I don't remember spending much money AT ALL except for Card Trader for me.
But for FOTB... oh man, the cards we'll seek after
-------------
Raiza the Storm Monarch, Super Rare. I expect this thing to be at LEAST 20 bucks on e-bay. And online card-selling websites.... at least 30~40 bucks. I also expect this will be the most popular card of FOTB. All monarch decks will be running this. And even other non-monarch decks will consider this card instead of the usual Zaborg cause of too many "floater" monsters running around in CC. (e.g. Treeborn Frog, Sangan, Gadget, E-Hero Stratos, GK Spy, Hydrogeddon, Card Trooper, etc.)
Sky Scourge Norleras, Super Rare. Hey, it's CED who came back to haunt us like... yeah. I bet little kids are asking their mommy why is CED back right now. Anyway, I expect this to be #2 or #1 rivaling Raiza. And with this card out, people WILL bother trying to get those Gellenduo/Nova Summoner that most people didn't bother getting cause it was secret rare and thus the trade value is too expensive. Especially Gellenduo as that'll be definately a better substitute for Spirit Reaper for Norleras OTK decks.
Sky Scourge Enrise, Super Rare. See, we're already hitting 3x Super Rares already. While this won't be as much big value as Norleras. If the player wants a more "controlled win" like what Chaos Sorcerer used to do rather then, "explode everything!" random ultimate bomb of Norleras, then they can run this dude. Again, Gellenduo and Nova Summoner will shine in this deck. (heck, I'm thinking it might be a must to run 3x Shining Angel/3x Nova Summoner for this version)
Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus, Ultra Rare. Like Shien and Grandmaster, only for Crystal Beast decks. However, Crystal Beast decks are considered to be MAJOR THREATS. If players in Japan have Enchanted Arrow/Living Arrow in their sidedeck JUST TO COUNTER THIS, it means something. (OCG card only, we don't have it) I also expect more people to have Mobius or at least Twister/dust Tornado in sidedeck once FOTB cards become legal play cause of this deck theme.
Rare Value, Ultra Rare. Again, read Sapphire Pegasus.
That's already 3x Super rare and 2x Ultra Rare.... that's ALOT of expensive cards. This is great for sellers but kinda bad news for us buyer/card players.
Other then those, the NON-expensive cards
Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins, Rare. For Crystal Beast decks of course. But they need this field spell card.
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger, Rare. Read Rainbow Ruin.
Crystal Beacon, Crystal Blessing, Crystal Abundance, Crystal Promise, Common. Well, at least these guys aren't expensive for Crystal Beast decks.
Backs to the Wall, Common. The literally OTK card for Six Samurai deck. Think of it as RftDD for them, except they stay on the field like Dimension Fusion.
Tornado, Common. I honestly didn't care for this card. But if we see a HUGE RISE in ChainStrikeBurn and Crystal Beast deck, this is an alternative to the usual Twister/Dust Tornado.
-------------
Overall, what STON pack gave us IMO.
Demise OTK deck. But the addition was just a Common Card. The expensive cards came from other packs. So if you think about with just STON, just 3x normal common cards. Kinda like the most played "crap set" known as CDIP is pretty much Snipe Hunter, and then ChainStrike/Accumulative Fortune, which are all common BTW.
Six Samurai. Okay, the ONLY expensive build for STON pack. Needed 3x Promo/Secret Rares, and maybe 0~2x Super rares. But for Crystal Beast decks, they need 6x Ultra Rares plus a couple rare cards to make it.
And after that, it pretty did wonders to our sidedecks with STON packs cause of Pulling the Rug, Twister, D.D. Crow, etc. (And some decks main-decking N-Spacian Grand Mole. I usually see this guy in either Rat Control or Gadget deck.) Although we're seeing less D.D. Crow and more Banisher of the Radiance usually. And Twister is usually sidedecks in decks that have horrible weaknesses. (e.g. DDT, ChainStrike, etc.) Most cases, it's just 3x Rugs in sidedecks to go against Monarch/Gadget/Demise.
---------
Anyway, my conclusion is. This pack is different. All the "hot cards' in STON were just common/rares. And they were valued for their sidedeck options mostly. But for this one, the hots cards are all Super Rares. And Ultra Rares for Crystal Beast decks. And really, even IF we're not gunna make one, we ALL LOVE CED Envoy of the End. (or we hated to death as taboo) So just for collection, I'm expecting everyone to want to have 3x Raiza/Norleras/Enrise for their collection. And then make a Norleras/Enrise variant of Chaos decks once someone makes a good formula in SJC. Come on, we all have 3x of all the Monarch in our binders to be used sometimes (except for Granmarg) and at least have 1x of both Envoy in our collections "just in case" if Konami got really drunk and decided to bring it back for some god forbidden reason.
