Hi, I'm having alot of problems with people on Yu-Gi-Oh TCG player. It seems people don't mind their manners, I made a team
(Team The_Fallen) and I get flammed for the name because it is my logon name? They are so rude and it bothers me, a MOD flammed my team name so I try to deffend our name and I got a ref. for it. Now more of them are are trying to ban me.

I dunno. From what i read there it seems that you had a certain amount of it coming to you. Not what you named the team but how you handled the criticism is what i find to be wrong.

but comeon, when people PM you flamming, then post in on the team page, that is messed up. Lets flam the team on their page, how many people will join when a mod tells you no one will join your team caus of the name right on the team forum? That is how this all started.

If a mod said such a thing then what you should have done is simply go above his head and converse with a person of higher authority. Have said person remove the mods post and ask him to refrain from making such comments in the future.

As far as pms go depending on the content they can be seen as harrassing and should be reported by forwarding the pm to someone high up on the food chain.

Yes cause obviously corrupted mods are always dealt with when you do such action.

Tiso are you being sarcastic? i dont know you well enough to tell. Especially without smilies.

I know it doesnt work everywhere because mods and admins usually get to become friends and learn to understand each other but if he has done things that infringe upon your rights most mods and admins will see that fact over any friendship.

Fallen if the guy was a normal mod then go to a global mod. if he was a global go to an admin. If all else fails go to member number 1 aka the god of the forum aka the ROOT admin.

There must be ways to find who has what rank and if not then you can start a thread asking for a list of mods and admins.

Might look in again some day. havent been in there for ages cos yvd hates my computer and my computer is a good computer. maybe it just hates my net connection. ah well.

Truth be told not all forums have the set up where you an appeal to higher courts. City of Gamers was set up with a rotating Tri of moderators in "final decision" type set-up. Every six months new ones are elected by the Council of Heroes, and one is elected Chairman of that group. Then there's bishop. ;) We all think of him as the boss, but he's told us time and again that the forums are in our hands, and we do our best to live up to his expectations. It's god set-up and creates a unique environment that stands out amongst other forums.

Different forums though are going to have different policies. This one as set up with the mantra "By the Gamers, For the Gamers". Which is true. Every moderator here is a devoted player to one or more TCGs. Since they care about the game and the gaming community, there has to be a certain level of mutual respect and desire to spread accurate knowledge.

I've lurked around TCGPlayer and posted in their rules board before. What I see there is not entirely different from what I see on many other forums. I'm not saying anything bad about TCG, since I would have to say the same thing about a hundred other Yu-Gi-Oh! relate websites across the web. It's really common place and part of the attitude that goes with interacting with people on the internet. Common courtesy goes out the window when you know the other person can't sock you in the jaw.

CoG was set up with the prospect of having a place where people could get along and not be afraid to ask a question, post on opinion and interact with knowledgeable people on a daily basis, without fear of being insulted or flamed. This why we come down harder on people when their posts become overly aggressive or use terminology that is less then respectful. It's a tricky thing to do since everyone has there own writing style and inserts inflection where it may not be evident in their posts to the rest of us. But for the most part I think we've managed to keep things under control.

There's not a lot you can do about the attitude of entire community, when this is the attitude set up by the forum administrators. If the people in charge are rude to you and appealing does no good, then there's not a lot you can do about it EXCEPT not sink to their level. TCGPlayer is, for better or worse, an extremely large community and governed by principles that are not uncommon across the web.

Do I think we are better then then TCGPlayer? Well, I think we're the greatest TCG site on the internet, so it wouldn't be fair for me to single them out. Do I find the behavior you describe there unusual? Not at all.

I'm thinking that he was looking for a second opinion. Kind of like when a bunch of people tell you a bunch of game rules that you KNOW are wrong, but you decide to go to an internet source to find out for certain.

In this case, I'm thinking he was certain he hadn't done anything wrong and just wanted to confirm that with a community other then TCGPlayer.

A far as what can we do....hmmmmm....

Set a good example for the other forums? ;)
