Zombie Master/Hysteric Party (related)

Hoopla,

I've been wondering about a couple of cards with similar effects that I haven't yet been able to find definitive rulings for: both Zombie Master and Hysteric Party grab a particular kind of monster from your graveyard after discarding, so I was wondering if they worked the same way as the old Fossil Excavation as per this ruling I found, somewhat covered in dust: http://lists.upperdeck.com/read/messages?id=11768#11768

Would this mean that Hysteric Party cannot be activated without a Harpy Lady Card in the graveyard? Is Zombie Master's effect not activatable with a zombie-less grave? This is going to make a fair difference with the local players who use these decks (myself included) so I'd really like to be totally clear on the issue.

Thanks for reading.

You got it. There has to be at least 1 Harpie Lady / Zombie in the Graveyard for you to use either effect. Of course you could summon the card you discarded for the cost if you wished, but there has to be something there initially.

Well, I suppose that makes sense. If you discard the wrong kind of monster, it's an illegal activation, so you get that discard back.

Or, to make things complicated, does it just resolve without effect, meaning a free discard?

Hang on, this kind of thing can apply to Book of Moon/Ceasefire/etc. combo as well, used mainly for repeat FLIP effects. I heard in the past you couldn't pre-empt card positions for activation of some of those kinds of cards (I forget the example), but that was a long time ago and I probably misunderstood anyway.

how about "zero ravity cannot be chained to dark mirror force"....i never could find out if if you could provided there was a def pos monster initally....
