It does work. You as the player are the target and get to choose who to stun. Just because the character can't be stunned doesn't mean you can't choose them. I'll try to find another example to show this.

I've heard it doesn't work as much near the end of the game. You have to actually plan out the battle.

You still get his effect. Reaper's effect is a continous effect and doesn't use the chain. It happens right away. Stein's effect does use the chain and waits to resolve. So it becomes chain link 1 and BoM is 2nd.

I've made Ashe more of a white mages that kicks but when not healing. I equiped her with a spear and she does about 300-400 damage right now at level 20. She also doubles as a black mage when I need her to.
