Am I the only Burn around in this format?

BURNER KING!!!
I play against the highest rated player in North America every week (Evan Dawson) and one of the next best in Oklahoma (Dustin Sides, but he doesn't show up enough). Evan plays Chimeratech and Stein x2 and DMOC. Can Burn stand a chance in this format against a deck like that?

I usually finish 2nd and always Top 4. I won last night with my Burn deck, but Evan wasn't there and no other Chimeratech decks. I beat decks like Horus, Roid, Monarch (hardest to beat), Zombie, Cookie Cutter, Warrior Toolbox. I usually have to rely on getting one or more Wave-Motion Cannons to win. I play cards to counter Heavy, MST, Breaker and Mobius. I also play the Golems, Solars, etc... And of course the usual stall cards like Bind, MoPeace, Level Limit, etc...

My question is this: What are the best cards to beat a Chimeratech deck that gets out Chimeratech, Jinzo, Spell Canceller, Drillroid and Barrel Dragon on the first turn? I know if I don't have Exiled Force (for Spell Canceller) and Lightning Vortex (or Brain Control), I'm usually going to lose. But remember that's it's my first turn. What would you do?

And PLEASE!!!..... let's NOT get into a discussion about Evan Dawson. That's NOT what this thread is about! Thanks.

3x Kuriboh??? I mean, I assume he is taking out your backfield before he attacks. Also I know that burn can be a slow process, which really helps those OTKs). they depend on the opponent not being able to Ring Chimera, or whatever. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is to eihter play the defense fodder (Nimbles, Petins, etc.) and try to live the round so you can vortex, Ring, Exile etc. Chimera. Of course, if he's got the Return From the DD, you got more problems. Even if you tech Prohibition and call Cyber Dragon, you still have to worry about it being removed. Maybe keep some Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spells handy against the fusion cards or the heavy/Trunade prequel.

It's a tough one, I would love to see an answer to this new OTK.

Okay, let me say once again. (not trying to be rude at all)

It's his FIRST TURN! (he goes first) And by the time he's done with it, he has these monsters: Chimeratech Overdragon, Jinzo, Spell Canceller, Drillroid and Barrel Dragon out on the field!!

So there's NO TRAPS, SPELLS or DEFENSE monsters to save you!!! (Jinzo, Spell Canceller and Drillroid eat them for lunch) The only thing I can think of using when it's my turn is Exiled the Spell Canceller and use either Brain Control (which I don't play) on Chimeratech or play Lightning Vortex.

Any suggestions that are REALISTIC? I'm not going to put 3 Kuribohs in my Burn deck, but maybe 2 in my sidedeck. That's not a horrible idea really because it's good against his Steins too.

Moved thread to Deck Check.

You're not the only burn around. I just don't have time to post my deck lately :D LOL.

Try making him go second instead. I'm currently messing around with a Toon Deck, and I always opt to go first, because it's simply advantageous for me.

Plus, if you go first, you can set your Traps to stop one of, presumably, Future Fusion, Overload Fusion and Dimension Fusion. Remember that the two Fusion Summoning cards don't have costs, so negate them and there'll be no change in the game status (i.e. no monsters sent elsewhere to set up the next card).

If you wait a short while, there's some good cards coming out in CDIP (I know, contradiction in terms) that restrict all Special Summons except for one particular Attribute (equal to the Attribute of each of those monsters). They're the Barrier Statues, and could be quite helpful.

Other than that, it looks like your friend focusses on Fusion Summoning, so Non-Fusion Area would really work (provided you keep it safe). There's also Jowgen the Spiritualist, because all the opponent's monsters would be Special Summons. That's your best bet, I think.

I want to know HOW he gets those out.

but besides that this is what could work:

2-3 Lava Golem

you already said exiled

ancient lamp MAY prove useful, but i wouldnt count on it

morphing jar #2 may seem useful as well

Jowgen would pwn

as long as you can murder the jinzo and spell canceler you'll be fine.

Or just a regular 1800+ beat stick to wipe out Spell Canceller (he's not that big of a deal, you know) and then Spell to your heart's content. I love the Lava Golem idea, first, he is useful in a burn deck, but second, you can get rid of BOTH Jinzo and Cancellro (or Chimera, if you're worried), then S/T away (I hear LLAB is nice this time of year.

Lava Golems, and exiled would more than likely be your best bet. And with it being a burn deck, I know it'll have stall cards like area b, and GB. Messenger of peace isn't a bad card to add to your side deck.

You wanted to know how he gets all of those out on his first turn? He plays these cards:

Thunder Dragon (x3) (to go with Pot)
Reload (x3)
Card Destruction
Dark Magician of Chaos
Graceful Charity
Future Fusion
Overload Fusion (x2)
Dimension Fusion (x2)
Pot of Avarice

He just keeps playing Reload, Card D, Graceful and Pot until he gets what he needs. He can reuse them with DMOC. Then he reborns the DMOC with Premature and Call.

Lightning Vortex, Lava Golem, Waboku, Rivalry Of Warlords, Needle Ceiling, Jowgen The Spirtualist, Time Wizard if you're lucky <s>

Spells and Traps won't work if Spell Canceller and Jinzo are out.

hm, if he is running dimension fusions, then if you burn quick enough you could stop it from happening, however, lava golems are your safest bet. and if worse comes to worse, solemn judgement.

Well Gora Turtles stop all the 1900 attackers and people are never ready for them. but the Drillroid and Spellchancellor are a pain. If he doesn't get to go first I love Solemn Judgement. but if he is running throw everything in the graveyard stuff. Big burn wipes out the monsters. his own Jinzo prevents his return from a different Dimension. Anyone gets all there needs on the very first turn and it's pretty well over including burns. I.E. getting 2 or 3 solemn judgements down puts a hickup in anyones giddyup. Hey I had a thought what about a wall of illusion or two after they attack those big bad baddies bounce back to his hand. Bottom line there is never going to be a deck that can't be countered. But Morphing Jar #2 seems it would make a nice pain in the but for the guy. Since, you already run Lava Golems that would seem to be the most helpful suggestion so far. But, I should be prepared with the Horn of Heaven and or Solemn Judgement when Jinzo tries to make his nasty appearance.

Keep the home fire BURNING LOL, wow that was bad

good luck

Since Future Fusion is Limited, negate that (Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell?) and it's over (except your opponent still has a bunch of Machines in his Deck to use, but you should be able to get your stall in place before then).

also try a fairy burn.... solar rays and heralds for the negation on his opening turn. Herald of Green Light and Herald of Purple Light would take care of the spells/traps and not limited, plus combine with the Winged Kuriboh/LV 10 combo if Chimera does come out for some REAL hurt. Also the new Horn coming in CDIP will help as well. and all the discarded Fairies will power up a Mudora nicely. Maybe try a Shinato or Creator for extra beef or the Venus agent to bring out the "shiny balls" to power Solar Ray burn.
