Interesting to see LJM effect's in discussion again.
I saw in other thread people saying its effect would work even if he is attacked by MS LV 2, Drillroid etc

I searched for more information, and I found in the upperdeck official site:

"""Legendary Jujitsu Master

If "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is destroyed, removed from play, or flipped face-down by the effect of the monster he battles with, "Legendary Jujitsu Master"'s effect is still applied and the monster is returned to the top of the Deck.

If "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is changed to a Fiend-Type or a Zombie-Type by "DNA Surgery" and is attacked by "Getsu Fuhma", "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect is Step 1 of a chain because the turn player is Step 1, and "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is Step 2. "Legendary Jujitsu Master" resolves first and "Getsu Fuhma" is sent back to the top of the Deck, then "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect resolves and "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is destroyed.

If you have "Destruction Punch"'s effect, and your opponent attacks your "Legendary Jujitsu Master", you resolve the 2 effects in a chain with the controller (the defending player) choosing the order."""

So, the official source tell us its effect work no matter who battled it.
Okay, I know it doesn't say much... but makes you think.

Yeah, that doesn't match up with these too well:
Chainsaw Insect
Getsu Fuhma
Hyper Hammerhead
Legendary Jujitsu Master
Ryu Kokki
Those all have to "battle" a monster, but AGE doesnt. If AGE attacks something that skips battle, like Kiseitai or Blast Sphere you woud still get the effect.

Ah, yes, so even more so, AGE should get its effect. He only has to attack! He should all the more get his effect becuase it goes off well before the battle which kills him, while the others go off just prior to being killed.

The point is, that the effect activates when the condition is met (AGE attacking, not even entering into batlle; others when they Battle), but none of them resolve until the end of the Damage Step. The others die in battle, they get their effect then anyway. AGE does not??? Inconsistant.

I think (and trust me when I say I'm no expert) the inconsistency lies in the fact that he must wait until the end of the Damage Step to activate his effect. Granted, he only must declare an attack to be able to use the effect, but it seems that because the effect activates at the end of the Damage Step is why he must remain on the field.

I'm reminded of Destiny Hero - Dogma and how he needs to be on the field during your opponent's next Standby Phase for his effect to activate.

As discussed (I believe earlier in the thread) what people were basing their assumption that AGE would get it's effect even in the graveyard on was that when you do a search for monsters with the phrase "...at the end of the damage step" you come up with monster that all recieve their effect even if destroyed in battle....unless their effect is applied to themselves such as with Spear Dragon turning to def. position. This is the reason that most believe this to be a very inconsistant ruling.
