Anti-Gadget....Skill Drain?

As I was looking over my Zombie deck in which I side deck a pair of Skill Drain I couldn't help wonder how effective those two Skill Drains combined with my pair of DDV in the main deck would be at taming a Gadget deck.

As I look over the typical Gadget monster line-up I can see that Skill Drain will negate the resolution of..

All Gadgets
Chiron the Mage
Breaker the Magical Warrior
MOF
Snipe Hunter

The ones it won't help with are...

Cyber Dragon
Cyber Phoenix
Exiled Force

Still, the DDVs will help to control the Exiled Force and Cyber Phoenix.....thoughts on Skill Drain as a counter to the typical Gadget deck? Worth givig it a try?

as u all know... Ive always been a big advocate of using skill drain decks... ... I think that this new meta makes Skill Drain more dangerous than ever...

Definitely a MUST against the Gadgets.... (time to open up my Skill Drain Deck for the new meta... )

A Gadget deck is highly unlikely to be using Royal Decree, it counts too much on Sakuretsu Armor / Widespread Ruin. Without those trap cards to protect their Gadgets they'll be getting run over left and right...as well, with all the defensive traps a typ. Gadget deck runs there usually isn't room for Dust Tornado.

yes, but for example in my Gadget deck I am Running 3 Decrees and 3 Dust Tornados in the side deck so I can counter those kinds of situations plus DDV, etc...and adding Enemy Controllers and other Spells so Royal Doesn´t annoy me...

Yeah, I wouldn't exactly say that Royal Decree shuts down the progress of a Gadget deck...all the time. Heck, I only use the basic traps. Ring, Saku, Torrential, and Bottomless. Other than that, I rely on Spells and Monster effects.

Plus, take this into consideration: Skill Drain saps the power out of your monsters as well. And with all the S/T removal out there, don't expect it to stay out very long.

Usually that would be true, it would sap most monsters, the build that I'm looking at though it doesn't effect but one or two of them and helps numerous ones.

Perhaps your paticular Gadget deck isn't typical. From what I've seen thus far the normal Gadget deck depends on 3 Sakuretsu Armor and a couple of Widespread Ruin or BTH to keep from getting it's monsters over run quickly. If you've figured out a way to keep those Gadgets on the field without trap protection by all means, please share it with us? We'd all love to benefit from your build if you don't mind.

I am with Machinefreak here for example u have ur staple Trap Cards.- "Ring of Destruction", "Torrential Tribute", "Mirror Force" plus "Sakuretsu Armor" x3, "Ultimate Offering" x1, "Bottomless Trap Hole"/"Widespread Ruin" is like 9 in total, u main "Royal Decree" x3 and "Enemy Cotroller" x3 and u r getting rid of 6 Cards with those changes u just have to add 3 more Spells Like "Scapegoat", and other Spells like Fissure, Rush Recklessy, Hammer Shot, etc and with this changes u wouldn´t need so many Trap Cards plus u will counter "Skill Drain"...for example this is the side deck I use when I play with My Fifth Gadget Deck

Enemy Controller x3
Royal Decree x3
Dark World Lightning x2
Sillva, Warlord of Dark World x2
Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World x2
Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World x2
Card Destruction x1

For example, If in a round I duel against a "Skill Drain deck" I change the theme of the deck to "DW"

Well, my Gadget deck isn't really out of the ordinary. I do use 3 Sakuretsu Armors, and I do use only 1 BTH. The only traps I use besides the one I posted before is Ultimate Offering. Also, I don't have Mirror Force (ZOMG!). I basically just remove with traps or spells, whichever I have at the moment, get Ultimate Offering and do the Snipe Hunter/Gadget thing.

Although, I am experimenting with making a new kind of Gadget deck. I just want to see how well my current one works for me. And if it doesn't do well, I'll start experimenting and testing. Just keep doing that until I find what works for me.

Plus, as soon as Strike of Neos comes out, a lot of people will be using Skill Drain cause of the new beefed up Normal Monsters. ^_^

I suppose that third game would be quite interesting then against our two decks! The deck I had in mind side decks two Vampire Lords (siding out Ryu Kokkis) and a SPoN.

I must admit that I haven't had the chance to play against a Gadget deck yet so my thoughts here are just speculative. I suppose there is no real way of knowing until I have the match-up a few times and depending on the side deck of the Gadget deck I'm playing to see how it would pan out.

It'll be hard, since Brain Crusher is a LV7.

I don't know. Even without Royal Decree/Dust, Gadget decks do have either Solemn Judgment or Seven Tools in their sidedecks.

MY Gadget deck mains 2x Enemy and 2x Rush. That does help out the Royal Decree quite a bit.

Well, there's always Reasoning, along with Revival cards.

And I need to add Rush to my deck, even though I have 2 Enemy Controllers as well.

...I don´t know, there is a lot of S/T card removal and lots of decrees around =s

Thats exactly why I would side deck Solemn Judgments and/or Seven tools of the Bandit ..... both will take out those decrees...
