"Ashes of Armageddon" - Demise/Phoenix

Not the best title in the world, lol. But this is the idea that I've been toying with the past couple of days - using Phoenix and Demise in the same deck, due to the fact that Phoenix is an 8 star and fulfills the requirements for Demise. That was the initial idea that got me going, and here is the result.

{1} Sacred Phoenix
{2} Demise, King of Armageddon

{1} Breaker the Magical Warrior
{2} Mystic Tomato
{3} Giant Germ
{3} Manju of 10,000 Hands
{1} Newdoria
{2} Spirit Reaper
{2} Apprentice Magician
{1} Hand of Nephtys

{1} Scapegoat
{2} Messenger of Peace
{2} Nobleman of Crossout
{2} Big Bang Shot
{3} Giant Trunade
{3} End of the World
{1} Premature Burial
{1} Graceful Charity
{1} Snatch Steal
{1} Heavy Storm
{1} SORL

{2} Statue of the Wicked
{2} Treasure Map
{1} Call of the Haunted
{1} Torrential Tribute

Sidedeck (initial one, could use help)

{1} Raviel, Lord of Phantasms
{2} Chaos Sorceror
{2} Magician of Faith
{1} Dark Necrofear
{1} Airknight Parshath
{2} Creature Swap
{2} Fissure (All Smashing Grounds are used)
{2} Sakuretsu Armor (in another deck, but could be used here)
{2} Interdimensional Matter Transporter

Basic idea of the deck is to stall/distract my opponent with Phoenix, Reaper, MoP until I can get Demise out and nuke the field. If Phoenix is out, fine - it'll come back next turn and finish off my opponent.

I'm really not sure if this'll work, any thoughts appreciated, haven't had time to playtest and still need a couple cards:

1x Statue of the Wicked
2x Treasure Map

(Anyone have them, lol?)

Thanks for looking!

interesting you got the trunade treasure combo going there... looks a bit slow in gameplay... should put some sakuretsus i think. or mayb in case it gets too slow... put treeborn... then when you draw hand of n. you can use it with your treeborn since it can come back anyways if its get killed.

You need somekinda protection... and since your not using Saku/BTH I'll say make your Reapers 3x... I can see why you don't wanna blend Saku... but at least add 1x Mirror Force, and maybe even just a Trap Hole.

And even with Trunade combo, I still don't think Treasure Map is good. it's actually 3 for 2. Cause you use Trunade + Map + 1 discard for 2 draws. I would just go for Jar of Greed. That way, you don't have to depend on Trunade. (And you can chain your Jar of Greed to your Phoenix nuke all s/t trigger) BBS + Trunade is hard enough combo to pull off, don't wanna depend on a 3 card combo now.

Finally, how about splitting the 3x End of the World to 2x and then add 1x Contract of the Abyss (Just incase of against Forbidden users)

Thanks. Yeah, I was looking at it and I think I am going to put in 2x Compulsory Evac Device over 2x Treasure Map.

It seems to work well so far, they actually also work quite well with Manju - I can summon it one turn, and return it to my hand for reuse the next turn, it the situation arises.

And in playtesting so far, Phoenix and Demise is a brutal combo. Two 2400 Beatsticks, one that can nuke the field and one that can come back.

I just have to figure out how best to harness that potential.

Mirror Force is good...you should run that. [edit]EEP! Didn't notice the T.Trib.![/edit] Treasure Map is silly if you don't have a Dark World in your hand, and even then it's pretty-not-good. I think that Dark Coffin would be better in here. Also, anything that would make the opponent commit more resourses to the board would be a nice add in, as Demise is pretty much a really bad Beast of Talwar if you are only using it to beat down...you also might want to consider Momongas. Because 2000 is no Umi.

The beat down remark was in reference to only summoning it when I can win the game, with Phoenix there as support. Of course I would not summon it early on when a lot can still happen.

What I think needs to happen in this deck is to get Phoenix out faster, whic I really don't know how to do. Any thoughts?

I do agree that Demise + SPoN is a sick idea.

I mean, Demise will nuke all cards on the field. And after that on your foe's turn, they can't set any s/t cause SPoN will nuke the field AGAIN in s/t wise your next turn. (Unless they had BTH in their hand that is)

Ya know, I tested this idea and I think Sand Moth can be useful.

Demise nuke the field, but Sand Moth comes back as 2000ATK.

So you pay 2000LP to do 4400LP damage to your foe instead of just 2400LP damage. (Of course, this is when you don't use Sand Moth as tribute for ritual summon)

Another fun idea is to use Metamorphosis on your Demise to turn it into Cyber Twin Dragon. Now it's pay 2000LP to do 5600LP of direct damage instead.

I used Last Will and Cyberstein in my Demise deck, it's downright mean. If you run Nimbles instead of Germs it will give you some extra LP's. With the Trunades you shouldn't have any problems clearing the field for a free shot.

Hmm, those are some great thoughts. I had thought about breaking apart the deck but might go back to it. The current build I had going (different from this, still need some Statues) was unstable and I did not get off the Phoenix/Demise combo. Came close a few times, but not quite.

I really like the Cyber Twin idea. That would be an awesome move to pull out.

Yeah, was also thinking of Nimbles instead of Germs. But both those cards are well, level 2. I might actually go for Tomatos and GK Spys instead cause they're level 4.

Also thought about Dekoichi cause you need big hands for Ritual decks so you need that draw power. (Skelengel would not be so great since that's level 2)

WOW! Last Will! Totally forgot about that. Yeah, It'll keep Demise on the field and bring out Cyber Twin with Cyber-Stein then you get 2400ATK + 2800ATKx2 which is exactly 8000LP damage. That's definately OTK no matter what. But that ALSO cost 7000LP for you.... eek freaking dee... (But Last Will into something else might work)

IMO, a better way for SPoN combo is probably using SPoN from your hand as a tribute for ritual summoning Demise, and then using Premature/CotH on your SPoN in your grave.

And hey, I'm going to post my own Demise deck with trying to combo SPoN with it... (If that doesn't offend you)

DEFINATELY post your deck. I want to see your ideas. I am really liking the Cyber Twin idea, but not Cyber Stein. I traded both of mine.

I think Gravekeeper's Spy, Dekochi's would work better than Germs/Nimbles, only because their stars are so low.

Let me know how it works out for you.
