Battle seachers vs summon responses

Another quickkie (Which I hope won't generate three pages of responses):

If a monster is summoned by the likes of Mystic Tomato/Pyramid Turtle Etc.. is it still the damage step such that Torrential Tribute or Bottomless Trap Hole cannot be activated?

If it is, is it also possible to wait until the end of the damage step and THEN activate Torrential Tribute etc..

1) Correct "Torrential Tribute" and "Bottomless Trap Hole" cannot be activated in the Damage Step.

2) No. You will have missed your timing by that point to have activated those cards. (And technically, the end of the Damage Step is still the Damage Step.)

That's that then, it's just one of those funny things that I'd never thought about.
