Beckoning Light with Dark World

The Syndicate...
When I activate Beckoning Light, if i have Dark World monsters in my hand when they get discarded, am i allowed to get their effects, or do i miss my timing.

Beckoning Light's effect of discarding the hand isnt a cost.

Just curious if timing is missed or not.

Thanks,
-Neil

You can't "miss the timing" for Dark World monsters, because their effects are mandatory (Peten, an optional effect, has "can remove it blah blah blah," while Silva and company have "When this cardd is discarded by a card effect, blah blah blah."). If Silva is discarded by a card effect, you are getting that 2300 monster whether you like it or not.

i believe it does miss the timing because beckoning light has two steps: 1. discards all cards 2. return cards from grave to hand... dark world misses the timing because the last thing that happened is the return of the cards from grave to hand and not the discard of all the cards... a new chain wont be formed either.
It is true that Dark World monster's effect is mandatory... but it only triggers if the last thing that happens, when a card resolves, is the discarding of those Dark World monsters... I've explained this as logically as i understand it to be... i dont think im missing something.

There is no "missing the timing" with Dark World monsters. Their effects are not optional. If they are dicarded by a card effect (and Beckoning Light's discard is the effect, not the cost) you will get the appropriate effect. I've run that kind of deck before with moderate success since the only prerequisate is that if you have say 4 cards in hand, there must be at least 4 LIGHT monsters in the GY. If you have 4 cards in hand, 3 Light and a Goldd and 1 Light monster in the Graveyard, you cannot activate Beckoning Light.

I'm sure he doesn't need the back-up, but densetsu_x is correct. "Missing the timing" only applies to optional Trigger Effects.

"Dark World" monsters have mandatory Trigger Effects, which means you cannot miss the timing with them, ever.

"Dark World" monster effects trigger as long as you discard them via a card's effect.

If you still need official proof, here's a direct quote from the UDE's Individual Card Rulings FAQ, under the section for "Dark World Monsters":

If these monsters are discarded by a card effect in the middle of a chain, or in the middle of a card effect like "Dragged Down into the Grave", their effects will activate after the current chain resolves. They cannot miss the timing.
